  • Gen. Yakubu Gowon Says Two Christian Friends in Plateau Betrayed Him in New Memoir

Former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.), has revealed that two of his Christian friends from Plateau State betrayed him, saying the experience remains one of the painful memories of his life.

Gowon made the revelation in his newly launched memoir, My Life of Duty, unveiled in Abuja during a ceremony attended by prominent national figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former First Lady Aisha Buhari, former Heads of State, senior military officers, diplomats, and other distinguished guests.

In the book, the former Head of State recalled that two of his Christian friends in Plateau State abandoned and betrayed him, noting that the incident left a lasting emotional impact.

According to Gowon, despite the passage of time, he still feels the pain of what he described as their betrayal.

The elder statesman explained that one of the major reasons for writing My Life of Duty was to correct what he described as longstanding misconceptions and inaccurate interpretations about his life, his leadership, and the policies of his administration.

How Alisha Lehmann Became A Football And Media Star is a story of talent, determination, and adaptability.

Over the years, Lehmann has carved a niche for herself in both professional football and the digital world.

From her early days in Switzerland to becoming a key player in the Women’s Super League (WSL) and a global social media sensation, her journey reflects the modern evolution of sports personalities.

Unlike traditional footballers who remain solely within the sphere of athletics, Lehmann has leveraged her footballing prowess alongside an influential online presence, making her one of the most recognizable female footballers today.

Early Life and Football Beginnings

Alisha Lehmann was born on January 21, 1999, in Switzerland, where she developed a deep passion for football at a young age.

Growing up, she displayed a natural talent for the sport, outshining her peers with her speed, dribbling, and goal-scoring ability.

Lehmann’s professional journey started at BSC Young Boys, one of Switzerland’s leading clubs.

Her performances in the Swiss National Liga A quickly caught the attention of European scouts.

She was not just another promising player; her ability to take on defenders and score crucial goals made her stand out.

How Alisha Lehmann Became A Football And Media Star

Her breakthrough came when West Ham United Women signed her in 2018, bringing her into the competitive world of English football.

The move marked the beginning of her international career, where she would soon become a fan favorite.

Making a Name in English Football

Lehmann’s time at West Ham United in the Women’s Super League was a defining period in her career.

She was instrumental in the club’s 2018–19 FA Women’s Cup campaign, where she helped them reach the final.

Her performances on the wing and as a forward showcased her agility, creativity, and goal-scoring ability.

Her impressive form led to a loan move to Everton Women in 2021, where she gained further experience playing in a competitive environment.

However, her most significant career move came when she signed with Aston Villa Women later that year.

At Villa, Lehmann solidified her reputation as a dynamic attacker with incredible pace and technical skills.

How Alisha Lehmann Became A Football And Media Star

At the international level, Lehmann has been a consistent performer for Switzerland’s national team, playing in major tournaments and helping promote Swiss women’s football on the global stage.

Becoming a Global Media Star

While many footballers focus solely on their performances on the pitch, Alisha Lehmann took a different path—she built a personal brand beyond football.

With millions of followers across Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter, she has become one of the most followed female footballers in the world.

Her social media presence is a mix of:

  • Football highlights – Showcasing her talent and passion for the game.
  • Personal lifestyle – Giving fans a glimpse into her life beyond football.
  • Fitness and fashion – Promoting an active lifestyle and engaging in brand endorsements.

Lehmann’s ability to connect with fans beyond the pitch has set her apart.

While some critics argue that her media presence overshadows her footballing achievements, her dedication to the sport remains evident in her performances for Aston Villa and the Swiss national team.

Her influence has also led to endorsement deals with top brands, making her one of the most marketable athletes in women’s football.

The Impact of Alisha Lehmann on Women’s Football

Lehmann’s success in both football and social media has had a significant impact on the women’s game.

Increasing Visibility for Women’s Football

Through her large social media following, Lehmann has attracted global attention to women’s football.

Her presence encourages brands and sponsors to invest in the sport, helping it grow in popularity.

Breaking Stereotypes

In the past, female athletes were often confined to a narrow definition of professionalism.

Lehmann has shown that a player can be both competitive on the pitch and influential off it, challenging outdated stereotypes.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Young girls worldwide look up to Lehmann—not just for her footballing ability but for her confidence, branding skills, and resilience.

Her journey proves that women’s football is an exciting and viable career path.

Balancing Sport and Media

Lehmann has successfully balanced being a professional footballer with being a social media personality, proving that the two worlds can coexist.

Her model of self-branding is something many modern athletes aspire to replicate.

Challenges and Criticism

Despite her success, Lehmann has faced criticism from some football purists who believe her social media presence detracts from her commitment to the game.

However, she has consistently proven that she remains focused on her football career while embracing the opportunities that come with being a public figure.

How Alisha Lehmann Became A Football And Media Star

Like any top athlete, she has had to overcome challenges such as injuries, club changes, and high expectations.

Yet, she continues to perform at a high level, demonstrating that she is not just a media personality but a serious footballer.

What’s Next for Alisha Lehmann?

As she continues her career at Aston Villa, the future looks bright for Alisha Lehmann.

With her growing influence in women’s football, potential international success with Switzerland, and further endorsement deals, she is set to remain a dominant figure in both sports and media.

In the coming years, we can expect to see her:

  • Competing at the highest levels of women’s football.
  • Expanding her media and business ventures.
  • Continuing to inspire young athletes worldwide.

Conclusion

How Alisha Lehmann Became a Football and Media Star is a story of ambition, versatility, and influence.

While her football career speaks volumes about her talent, it is her ability to transcend sports and connect with millions that makes her a unique figure in the modern era.

Lehmann’s journey is far from over, and whether on the pitch or online, she remains a trailblazer in women’s football.

Through her dedication, branding, and inspiring presence, she is helping shape the future of the sport, proving that success in football no longer ends with match-day performances, it extends into the digital and global stage.
