Questions deserve more than conclusions.
They deserve a method.

Morganable Research brings together public-interest inquiry, transparent methodology, evidence, analysis and scrutiny to investigate questions that require more depth than the ordinary publication cycle allows.

01 / Question Define the inquiry
02 / Method Design the approach
03 / Evidence Build the record
04 / Analysis Test the explanation
05 / Scrutiny Expose the work
06 / Preserve Keep what matters
01 / Research Gateway
Morganable Research

Public-interest inquiry built to withstand examination.

Morganable Research is the public gateway to research outputs, methodologies, evidence, programmes and associated knowledge produced across the institution.

Research may begin with a question surfaced by journalism, a pattern found in data, a problem identified by an observatory or an evidence gap requiring more systematic investigation.

Whatever its origin, the research form imposes a different obligation: the question, method, evidence, analytical reasoning, uncertainty and limitations should be sufficiently clear for the work to be examined.

Research should not merely tell the reader what Morganable thinks. It should show how Morganable knows.
Institutional Architecture

The institute builds the capability. Research makes the work visible.

Morganable Research Institute and the Research gateway are related but perform different institutional functions.

Institutional Capability

Morganable Research Institute

The institute provides the institutional home for research architecture, standards, programmes, methodology development, collaboration and long-horizon research capability.

Research Architecture

From question to
defensible finding.

Research methods differ across questions and disciplines, but a credible research process should preserve a visible relationship between the problem, the method, the evidence and the resulting conclusion.

01

Question

Define the problem, unit of analysis, scope and public-interest rationale.

02

Design

Select methods capable of addressing the actual research question.

03

Evidence

Acquire, document and assess the material required for the inquiry.

04

Analyse

Apply the selected analytical framework without silently changing the research question.

05

Scrutinise

Test assumptions, limitations, competing explanations and reproducibility where appropriate.

06

Publish

Present findings with the method, evidence and uncertainty required to understand them responsibly.

Research Domains

Questions across public life.

Morganable’s research architecture is designed to accommodate multiple domains while requiring methods appropriate to each question rather than imposing a single research template across the institution.

01

Governance & Institutions

State capacity, public administration, accountability, political institutions and the performance of public systems.

02

Economy & Development

Growth, public finance, labour markets, industrial transformation, productivity and structural change.

03

Conflict, Security & Resilience

Violence, insecurity, conflict systems, state resilience and the institutional conditions surrounding them.

04

Health & Human Outcomes

Disease burden, health outcomes, epidemiology, systems performance and other consequential human indicators.

05

Society, Culture & Identity

Social change, historical memory, cultural identity, institutions and the forces shaping public life.

06

Technology & Infrastructure

Digital systems, infrastructure, technological transformation and their institutional and economic consequences.

Evidence Architecture

Good research depends on more than a persuasive conclusion.

Morganable’s research standard should make the evidentiary foundations of significant work as clear as the form of research permits.

01 / Provenance

Know where the evidence came from.

Sources, transformations and relevant lineage should be documented sufficiently to support scrutiny.

02 / Definitions

Know what the variables mean.

Concepts, categories and operational definitions should be sufficiently clear for interpretation and comparison.

03 / Method

Match the method to the question.

Analytical technique should serve the inquiry rather than merely create the appearance of sophistication.

04 / Limitations

State what the research cannot establish.

Weaknesses, missing evidence and threats to interpretation should not disappear from the final narrative.

Research Scrutiny

Strong work should survive being questioned.

Scrutiny is not an obstacle to research. It is part of the process by which confidence in a finding becomes more justified.

A finding becomes more valuable when another researcher can understand how it was reached.
Question clarity What is being tested?
Evidence quality What supports it?
Method fitness Does the method fit?
Alternative explanations What else could explain it?
Replication Can the work be examined?
Uncertainty What remains unresolved?
Research Outputs

Different questions require different research forms.

Morganable Research should not force every inquiry into the same publication format. The appropriate output depends on the research question, evidence, audience and maturity of the work.

01

Research Papers

Substantive research outputs presenting a question, method, evidence, findings and relevant limitations.

02

Working Papers

Research made available at an earlier stage where public scrutiny can improve subsequent development.

03

Methodology Papers

Detailed explanation of measurement systems, indices, classifications and research architectures.

04

Research Briefs

Concise presentation of significant research findings for decision-makers and wider public audiences.

05

Data Notes

Documentation of datasets, provenance, transformations, quality issues and analytical implications.

06

Replication Materials

Code, documentation, data references and associated materials made available where rights and methods permit.

Connected Evidence Systems

Research becomes stronger when the institution around it is stronger.

Morganable Research can draw on specialised institutional capabilities without collapsing journalism, data, intelligence and research into a single undifferentiated form.

Research Maturity

Research status should mean something.

An initial question is not a finding. A working analysis is not automatically validated research. Morganable should distinguish stages of research according to the evidence actually completed.

01

Scoping

Question, evidence universe and intended research design are being established.

02

In Research

Evidence acquisition, coding, measurement or analytical work is actively underway.

03

Under Scrutiny

Methods, assumptions, evidence and findings are undergoing review or replication.

04

Published

The research has reached a defined public output with appropriate supporting material.

05

Enduring

The work has produced reusable methods, datasets or knowledge capable of supporting future inquiry.

Research Record

Publication should not erase the research trail.

Important research should remain understandable after publication, including where methods, evidence, corrections or subsequent versions materially change.

01
Preserve methodology

Significant methodological decisions should remain identifiable after publication.

02
Preserve provenance

The origin and transformation of important supporting evidence should remain documented.

03
Preserve versions

Material changes should not silently overwrite the research history.

04
Preserve corrections

Significant research corrections should remain visible and connected to the affected work.

05
Preserve reusable assets

Datasets, methods and analytical structures with continuing value should not disappear when an individual paper concludes.

Research Status

Developing research should not be presented as completed evidence.

Morganable’s research portfolio can contain work at different stages of scoping, evidence acquisition, analysis, scrutiny and publication. Public descriptions should continue to distinguish intended research, active investigation, preliminary findings and completed outputs according to the evidence available.

Research Institution

Behind the research is the institution being built to sustain it.

Explore the Morganable Research Institute for the wider institutional architecture behind Morganable’s research capability.

Morganable Research Institute Research capability should endure beyond a single researcher, publication or project.

The institute provides the longer-term institutional framework for research standards, programmes, methodologies, partnerships and intellectual development.

Ask the question.
Test the evidence.
Show the method.

Morganable Research is designed to produce public-interest knowledge whose claims are stronger because the evidence, methods, limitations and reasoning behind them can be examined.
