• Gen. Yakubu Gowon Says Two Christian Friends in Plateau Betrayed Him in New Memoir

Former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.), has revealed that two of his Christian friends from Plateau State betrayed him, saying the experience remains one of the painful memories of his life.

Gowon made the revelation in his newly launched memoir, My Life of Duty, unveiled in Abuja during a ceremony attended by prominent national figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former First Lady Aisha Buhari, former Heads of State, senior military officers, diplomats, and other distinguished guests.

In the book, the former Head of State recalled that two of his Christian friends in Plateau State abandoned and betrayed him, noting that the incident left a lasting emotional impact.

According to Gowon, despite the passage of time, he still feels the pain of what he described as their betrayal.

The elder statesman explained that one of the major reasons for writing My Life of Duty was to correct what he described as longstanding misconceptions and inaccurate interpretations about his life, his leadership, and the policies of his administration.

He said the memoir offers his personal account of key events in Nigeria

  • Three Years After Lalong Left Office, Nigerians Reflect on His Legacy

Three years after the administration of former Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong came to an end, residents and political observers have continued to reflect on his eight-year tenure, with discussions centering on his achievements, shortcomings, and overall legacy.

Across social media platforms and public forums, many Nigerians have been asking a common question: "Three years after the Lalong administration ended, what stands out most to you about his time in office?"

The question has generated diverse reactions, with some respondents highlighting infrastructure development, road construction, educational reforms, and efforts to promote peaceful coexistence during his administration.

Others, however, pointed to persistent security challenges, economic concerns, unemployment, and governance issues, arguing that these remain among the defining aspects of Lalong

One thing these fashion trends have in common is that they are chic, elegant very stylish and fashion-forward.

Indisputably, this fashion season is particularly noteworthy, encouraging us all not just to sit on the fence but to embrace and be more open to the endless possibilities fashion has to offer.

Here are 5 of our favourite  fashion trends

Couture Dresses: Most fashion brands and designers showcase creativity and innovation with couture dresses made from the finest material and creative attention to detail that is perfectly tailored to body measurements.

Couture designs came out in full force and were by fashion lovers who have a deep appreciation for them.

Aso-Oke: This season aso-oke is re-imagined into much more beautiful and versatile fashionable pieces while maintaining its timeless elegance.

It is not just held onto, kept or worn for special celebrations anymore but can be styled according to your style preference.

I love how different stylish designs are crafted from Aso-oke bringing modern sophistication to life.

Whether you are dressing up or dressing down, this season you are spoilt for choice with different styles and silhouettes of aso-oke.

Free Flowy Outfits: We are shaped by the interplay of textures and patterns that harmoniously come together to make the elegance of free-flowy outfits, quite magical.

Free flowy dresses, Kaftan, tops and pants at full length in different patterns and silhouettes played out majorly this fashion season.

If you are not yet into it, get inspired by different ideas and inspiration and just try out new things.

Statement Agbada: Crafted from rich textiles with detailed and luxury embroidery bringing sophistication to life with contemporary flair.

Statement Agbada have become very fashionable redefining the art of contemporary sophistication.

Fringe: This lovable trend adds a sprinkle of sexiness and playfulness to your overall outfits in fresh fashion-forward ways.

You can always count on fringe trends to bring along with you all the drama you need for a va-va-voom effect!

Sustainably Dyed Adire: It has become a common sight these days to go through the pages of social media to slide into Adire fashionable pieces in colourful designs and patterns.

It is how sustainably dyed Adire resonates with us all, evolving from basic fabric to an elevated fashionable piece
embraced by fashion brands to create statement pieces.
