• Gen. Yakubu Gowon Says Two Christian Friends in Plateau Betrayed Him in New Memoir

Former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.), has revealed that two of his Christian friends from Plateau State betrayed him, saying the experience remains one of the painful memories of his life.

Gowon made the revelation in his newly launched memoir, My Life of Duty, unveiled in Abuja during a ceremony attended by prominent national figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former First Lady Aisha Buhari, former Heads of State, senior military officers, diplomats, and other distinguished guests.

In the book, the former Head of State recalled that two of his Christian friends in Plateau State abandoned and betrayed him, noting that the incident left a lasting emotional impact.

According to Gowon, despite the passage of time, he still feels the pain of what he described as their betrayal.

The elder statesman explained that one of the major reasons for writing My Life of Duty was to correct what he described as longstanding misconceptions and inaccurate interpretations about his life, his leadership, and the policies of his administration.

He said the memoir offers his personal account of key events in Nigeria

  • Three Years After Lalong Left Office, Nigerians Reflect on His Legacy

Three years after the administration of former Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong came to an end, residents and political observers have continued to reflect on his eight-year tenure, with discussions centering on his achievements, shortcomings, and overall legacy.

Across social media platforms and public forums, many Nigerians have been asking a common question: "Three years after the Lalong administration ended, what stands out most to you about his time in office?"

The question has generated diverse reactions, with some respondents highlighting infrastructure development, road construction, educational reforms, and efforts to promote peaceful coexistence during his administration.

Others, however, pointed to persistent security challenges, economic concerns, unemployment, and governance issues, arguing that these remain among the defining aspects of Lalong

Establishing community culture through fashion brands is very significant in terms of value, growth and creating relevance.

It also foster a true sense of community that is impactful.

The concept of community has evolved, it is now a blueprint for support, growth and a culture that is embedded in value.

When we come together as a community great things happen.

The current state of luxury is not just about how much money we have saved or the designers we can afford to wear .

It goes far beyond what we wear, but how we feel and knowing well that we can thrive in the midst of love, support and community.

‘’ THE CONCEPT OF COMMUNITY HAS EVOLVED, IT IS NOW A BLUEPRINT FOR SUPPORT, GROWTH AND A CULTURE THAT IS EMBEDDED IN VALUE’’.

As a modern woman, i find it very important to make space for joy, networking, meaningful engagement and basically giving myself over to things that are uplifting.

We all need balance, mindfulness, ease, self-care, a well curated event or gathering to decompress, learn, share and have fun.

I love the fact that community revolves around humanity, it centers around humanity in such a way that it is possible to be seen, loved and appreciated.

Personally i am impressed by anything that is thoughtful, impactful, stirring the right conversations that nurtures the mind and overall wellbeing.

Beyond our wardrobe and facade is the need for community, I am inclined to believe that we can cultivate a lifestyle that evokes joy, growth, purposeful living and impact.

‘’THERE ARE FASHION BRANDS THAT ENGAGE THEIR COMMUNITY, TAKING THEM THROUGH THEIR CREATIVE PROCESS AND HOW THE BRAND KEEPS EVOLVING’’.

‘’ THE CURRENT STATE OF LUXURY IS NOT JUST ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY WE HAVE SAVED OR THE DESIGNERS WE CAN AFFORD TO WEAR’’.

The reality is that, some of the lifestyle we desire are not created with us in mind.

We have to become intentional in creating the lifestyle we want. Here is the good news, we have a new generation of men and women that are intentional about creating helpful communities.

Beyond aesthetics fashion brands are now intentional about establishing communities.

Although the purpose differs but one thing that is synonymous is that these community are potentially building legacies that will continue to promote value, for the greater good of all.

Few fashion brands have championed this cause bringing together men and women together through very well thought out events, brunch date, seminars, and some other well organised event.

‘’WE HAVE TO BE INTENTIONAL IN CREATING THE LIFESTYLE WE WANT’’.

When people come together to form a community through fashion and shared values, it can stir up growth that is impactful. The ripple effect of community and cohort of amazing individual is powerful and liberating.

‘’THE RIPPLE EFFECT OF COMMUNITY AND COHORT OF AMAZING INDIVIDUAL IS POWERFUL AND LIBERATING’’.

I believe that we need community and we can build it through individuals that not only love fashion, but share passion for change, growth and impact.

These are six guidelines on how to establish community culture through fashion brands:

Define your purpose : as a fashion brand, you must define your purpose first before building a community. What do you aim to achieve building a community? What are you strategies in stirring up conversations and meaningful engagement with your community.

it is never enough to have client base, but distinct set of individuals with shared values, common interest where like minded people come together to share experience, network .

They have meaningful and impactful conversations geared towards growth.

The goal of establishing community is to be purposeful, impactful, adding value to lives.

Engagement: offline and online, there are fashion brands that engage their community actively, taking them through their creative process and how their brand keeps evolving.

I think it is really amazing to engage your community, it is very important and pivotal to growth.

Collaboration: this can contribute a lot to the dynamics of establishing community.

In this age and time, there is room for healthy collaboration.

Great things happens when like minds collaborates, i believe It is all about collaborative process.

The beauty of community is that it can lean fully into collaboration and
Fashion brands must be open to it as there are a lot of potential from fashion influencers to content creators and brand experts.

There are professionals in the fashion industry that are trailblazers with lots of potentials.

These potential must be tapped into and the best way to go about it is to collaborate.

Co-creating events with other reputable fashion brands: there is room for healthy and successful co-existence. Fashion brands can come together by to co-create events by gathering their community.

In as much as there is shared value and passion, i think it is very important for brands to come together and co-create.

A well organised fashion event can be moderated by professionals that are brand expert.

Social event: social events have become a thing with fashion brands and we love to see it. What is the essence of stirring conversations, talking, engagement, decompressing without socials?

Some fashion brands now gather their community to celebrate by setting aside significant days to celebrate with their community.

Days like International Women’s Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day, Workers Day or any other significant date are mostly set aside to organise brunch date or a get together party in a calm and comfortable environment where everyone can relax and feel a good vibe.

Impact: the essence of establishing community is for impact.

There is room for growth and when we come together as community we come together as an agent of change impacting lives.
