• Tinubu Urges Plateau State Governor to Include Hausa/Fulani in his Cabinet, and also Recognize Them as Indigenes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on political leaders in Plateau State to embrace inclusive governance by appointing members of the Hausa/Fulani community to key positions in the state government and recognizing them as indigenes of the state.

The President made the remarks during a high-level dialogue meeting with political, traditional, and religious leaders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Addressing participants at the meeting, Tinubu stressed that sustainable peace and development in Plateau State require fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all communities.

  • Goldman Sachs Lowers 2027 Brent Oil Price Forecast Over Supply Growth, Demand Risks

Goldman Sachs has reduced its forecast for Brent crude oil prices in 2027, citing expectations of increased global oil supply and growing concerns over weaker demand.

The investment bank said rising production from major oil-producing countries, coupled with uncertainties surrounding global economic growth, could place downward pressure on oil prices in the coming years.

Analysts noted that slower economic activity in key markets and the increasing adoption of alternative energy sources may affect long-term demand for crude oil.

The revised outlook comes as energy markets continue to monitor geopolitical developments, production policies by major exporters, and changing consumption patterns worldwide.

West African cinemas frequently witness box office upsets. Meanwhile, the latest theatrical numbers completely spellbound analysts, producers, and audiences.

The Rise of a Juggernaut
BluHouse Studios produced the highly anticipated romantic comedy Call of My Life.

Subsequently, premier distributor FilmOne Entertainment brought the movie to the silver screen.

Shattering Records
The film transformed quickly from a buzzy release into a financial juggernaut.

Furthermore, the movie shattered audience expectations and traditional box office trajectories. Consequently, total ticket sales officially crossed a monumental ₦498 million.

Entering the Top Ten
With this jaw-dropping figure, Call of My Life comfortably secured its crown. Specifically, it became the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2026.

Therefore, it forced its way into the legendary top ten highest-grossing Nollywood releases ever.

Changing the Industry Landscape
This historic milestone marks a significant moment for Nigerian cinema. Clearly, audiences deeply crave original, emotional, character-driven narratives.

Moreover, they want these stories outside traditional holiday blockbuster windows.

A Record-Breaking Cinematic Trajectory
The journey of Call of My Life offers a masterclass in audience engagement.

In addition, the movie maintained incredible theatrical momentum.

The Big Opening
The romantic drama opened nationwide on May 15, 2026.

Initially, it faced heavily funded international projects and massive Hollywood spectacles.

Nevertheless, the immense power of local storytelling quickly conquered the market.

Dethroning Competitors
During its opening three-day weekend, the film raked in a stunning ₦76.9 million.

Thus, it immediately captured the number one spot. Ultimately, it boldly dethroned global studio competitors.

Unyielding Staying Power
Remarkable, unyielding staying power truly elevates Call of My Life.

Usually, many modern blockbusters suffer from a massive second-week drop-off. In contrast, this romantic masterpiece completely defied the odds.

Fueling Social Media
By week one, it amped up cumulative earnings to an incredible ₦128.1 million.

Moviegoers across the region simply could not get enough. Soon, they created a massive wave of organic word-of-mouth promotion on social media.

Intimidating the Competition
As the weeks rolled on, the box office numbers grew more intimidating.

Competing releases simply could not keep pace.

Crossing Crucial Milestones
By week two, the film easily crossed the ₦300 million mark. It held off fresh cinematic debuts with effortless grace.

Dominating the Weekends
Comprehensive box office data shows the film maintained the number one spot. Specifically, it topped the charts for four consecutive weekends.

Marching to ₦600 Million
This sustained brilliance culminated during its fourth weekend.

An additional ₦63.7 million push officialized its current standing at ₦498.4 million. Hence, it paved a clear path toward the ₦600 million milestone.

Crafting the Magic: The Story and Visual Vision
A beautifully spun, highly relatable story lies at the core of this box office victory. Naturally, it targets the beating heart of modern romance.

The Virtual Conflict
Uzoamaka Power wrote the screenplay, and Blessing Uzzi produced the project. Specifically, Call of My Life explores love’s vulnerability in a digital world.

Meeting Soluchi
The story follows Soluchi. Uzoamaka Power plays this character with exquisite emotional depth.

Currently, the call center agent struggles to pick up her broken pieces. She suffered a deep heartbreak from her former lover.

Connecting with Eli
However, an everyday customer work call completely transforms her routine life. Through a crackling phone line, she unexpectedly connects with Eli.

The charismatic Andrew Bunting portrays this charming stranger.

Rejecting Old Tropes
Consequently, Eli’s voice and presence challenge her cynical view of relationships. The central theme resonated deeply with modern audiences.

After all, viewers have grown tired of superficial romantic tropes. They believe true love might be just a phone call away.

Directorial Brilliance
Director Dammy Twitch amplified the film’s cinematic brilliance tenfold. This production marks his triumphant feature film directorial debut.

From Music Videos to Cinema
The continent knows Twitch for helming visually stunning commercials. He also directed high-energy music videos for Burna Boy and Davido.

Now, Twitch brought a slick, vibrant, and intimate aesthetic to the big screen.

Capturing Nigerian Urban Life
The crew filmed across gorgeous, contrasting backdrops. They utilized beautiful locations in Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu. Therefore, the movie captures the true essence of contemporary Nigerian urban life.

Directing from the Heart
Twitch explicitly stated that he chose a romance instinctively. He desired his debut project to be a pure reflection of his heart.

He rooted the film deeply in love, visual harmony, and human happiness.

Adding Musical Magic
To elevate the storytelling, the director integrated soul-stirring, live musical performances.

The narrative fabric features breathtaking cameos from local musical powerhouses. Specifically, Johnny Drille and Cobhams Asuquo deliver stellar performances.

An Ensemble of Dynamic Talents
An emotionally charged script requires an incredibly versatile cast. Fortunately, BluHouse Studios assembled an absolute powerhouse of talent.

The Power of Chemistry
The electric on-screen chemistry between Uzoamaka Power and Andrew Bunting anchors the entire film.

They convey deep, evolving intimacy through voice projection and subtle glances. Because of this, modern moviegoers deeply appreciated the authentic romance.

Bridging the Generational Gap
Furthermore, the producers masterfully blended rising stars with iconic, legendary veterans.

They cast beloved actors like Nkem Owoh and Patience Ozokwor. Broda Shaggi also provided impeccable comedic timing.

Attracting All Audiences
Consequently, the film successfully bridged a major multi-generational gap.

It attracted older cinema lovers alongside fiercely energetic Gen Z and Millennial demographics.

What This Milestone Means for the Future of Nollywood
The overwhelming commercial triumph of Call of My Life sent a shockwave through African cinema.

For a long time, a prevailing myth dictated box office rules.

Rewriting the Industry Rulebook
People believed only high-budget action comedies could cross the multi-hundred-million naira threshold.

They also thought success required chaotic ensemble slapsticks released during December. Instead, Call of My Life completely rewrote that rulebook.

Official Statements
Distributor FilmOne Entertainment celebrated the historic accomplishment on official platforms. They released a deeply emotional statement to fans.
