Akure —
Nigerian Afrofusion singer BNXN has released his latest EP, Still In Charge, adding a fresh project to his 2026 music catalogue.
The six-track project arrived on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and features fellow Nigerian artists Asake and FOLA. The release also coincides with Nigeria’s Independence Day, giving the project an added connection to a major date on the country’s calendar.
BNXN announced the project just days before its release. On September 29, reports confirmed that the singer had selected Still In Charge as the title and revealed Asake and FOLA as the featured artists.
At the time, the complete tracklist and production details had not yet been released. However, the project has now arrived across digital music platforms, giving listeners access to the full body of work.
The EP contains six songs and runs for about 16 minutes. Its tracklist includes “Eja Meja” featuring Asake, “Online,” “16,” “Deliberate Work,” “Shamaya” featuring FOLA, and “If You Like.” The project therefore gives BNXN four solo records while reserving two tracks for collaborations.
The release follows a steady period of activity for the singer. Earlier in the year, BNXN worked with producer Sarz on The Game Needs Us, a collaborative project that added another chapter to his growing catalogue.
He also released several singles and collaborations as he continued to maintain his presence within Nigeria’s rapidly changing Afrobeats scene.
One of the most notable collaborations on the new EP is “Eja Meja,” featuring Asake. The song arrived ahead of the full project and gave fans an early indication of what BNXN’s latest musical direction could sound like. Its release also brought together two major voices from Nigeria’s contemporary Afrobeats movement.
Asake’s appearance adds an established name to the project. The singer has built a large international audience through his blend of Afrobeats, street-pop and amapiano influences.
His collaboration with BNXN therefore brings together two artists with distinct approaches to melody, rhythm and songwriting.
Meanwhile, FOLA appears on “Shamaya,” the EP’s fifth track. The collaboration continues an existing musical relationship between both singers. BNXN and FOLA previously worked together on “Very Soon,” which later appeared on BNXN’s 2025 album, CAPTAIN. Their latest collaboration gives them another opportunity to combine their vocals on a new project.
Another important part of the rollout was “Online,” which arrived before the EP. The song helped build anticipation for the project and continued BNXN’s recent pattern of releasing music ahead of a larger body of work.
By releasing selected material before the EP, the singer gave listeners a preview while keeping attention on the upcoming project.
Now that Still In Charge has arrived, attention will shift toward how listeners respond to the individual songs. Streaming activity, playlist placements, music videos and chart movements will provide a clearer picture of the project’s performance in the weeks ahead. Since the EP is only newly released, however, its long-term commercial impact cannot yet be determined.
The timing of the release has also generated interest. BNXN chose October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day, for the project’s arrival.
While reports have noted the significance of the date, the singer has not publicly stated that the release was specifically designed around the national celebration. Therefore, the timing can be noted as part of the rollout without assuming a particular motive.
For BNXN, Still In Charge represents another step in an active year.
The singer has continued to release music, collaborate with other Nigerian artists and expand his catalogue following his previous projects.
His recent output has included solo records, collaborations and work with established producers.
The EP also shows BNXN balancing established and emerging voices. Asake brings an already familiar presence to the project, while FOLA represents a younger artist whose profile continues to grow. By including both artists, BNXN creates room for different sounds and approaches within the short project.
The title Still In Charge also reflects the confidence associated with BNXN’s recent musical output. Rather than presenting a lengthy album, he has chosen a compact six-track format that allows the songs to make their impact without requiring listeners to commit to a much longer project.
Furthermore, the EP keeps the focus largely on BNXN. Four of its six tracks are solo performances, meaning the collaborations complement rather than dominate the project.
This structure allows listeners to hear more of his songwriting, vocal delivery and Afrofusion style while still providing moments of collaboration.
The project arrives during another active period for Nigerian music. Afrobeats artists continue to release new projects and collaborate across different sounds, while Nigerian music maintains a growing presence on international streaming platforms.
BNXN’s latest release therefore enters a competitive market where individual songs can quickly attract attention through social media, playlists and fan conversations.
For fans, the arrival of Still In Charge also brings the end of the short wait created by BNXN’s announcement.
What began on September 29 as news of an upcoming EP has now become a completed release. The project is available to listeners, and its six tracks provide a new snapshot of where no the singer is creatively in 2026.
As the songs circulate, listeners will determine which records receive the strongest attention. In the meantime, BNXN has added another concise project to his growing discography, with Asake and FOLA providing two key collaborative moments.
With Still In Charge now released, the next stage will be its reception across streaming services and the wider Nigerian music industry.
For BNXN, however, the release marks another active move in a year defined by new music, collaborations and continued creative output.
