  • Goldman Sachs Lowers 2027 Brent Oil Price Forecast Over Supply Growth, Demand Risks

Goldman Sachs has reduced its forecast for Brent crude oil prices in 2027, citing expectations of increased global oil supply and growing concerns over weaker demand.

The investment bank said rising production from major oil-producing countries, coupled with uncertainties surrounding global economic growth, could place downward pressure on oil prices in the coming years.

Analysts noted that slower economic activity in key markets and the increasing adoption of alternative energy sources may affect long-term demand for crude oil.

The revised outlook comes as energy markets continue to monitor geopolitical developments, production policies by major exporters, and changing consumption patterns worldwide.

2027: Nothing will stop Tinubu reelection, says Yakasai as China granted approval to manufacture electric vehicle In Nigeria

Ahead of 2027 general elections, Yakasai has thrown weight behind Tinubu’s reelection bid, stating that ‘Nothing can stop him.’

An elder Statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, in a statement, has said that nobody is better than President Bola Tinubu to lead the country after 2027 elections.

Yakasai also noted that GOD, who allowed him in 2023, will don it again for him in 2027.

This statement came during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday, Sunday, 18th Ma, 2025, in Abuja.

He also stated that as a pioneer members of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), he had not been informed of any candidate, from the north, contesting against the president in 2027.

“I haven’t heard anybody making any proposition about the 2027 presidential election from Arewa Consultative Forum.

“What is tagged the Arewa Consultative Forum or Northern Elders Forums’ position is mere individual opinions, because all sections of the north have not taken a stand on this,” he said.

Yakasai also demanded that Nigerians exercise patience and wait until the key northern figures converge and unanimously decide on choice.

”In Nigeria today, Bola Tinubu is the president. He has his ministers and governors who are backing him.

“Who else has all what it takes to move into the contest with the kind of stamina and strength to be more successful comparatively with Tinubu?” he asked.

He noted that apart from some All Progressives Congress’ (APC) governors backing the president’s reelection bid, there are also governors from other parties doing the same.

“We should all wait and see if the picture will change drastically, otherwise for now, the odds are in his (Tinubu’s) favour because I have not seen anything that will prevent him from winning the next election.

“He hasn’t done anything against the north in my understanding and the north alone cannot decide who becomes the president of the country,” he said.

According to Alhaji Yakasai, he noted the intra-party crisis rocking some opposition parties has even made it very easy for the president to be reelected in 2027.

Assessing the Tinubu’s administration in the last two years, Yakasai he would never want to go into evaluating at the moment.

However, he implored all Nigerian public office holders to have interests of the citizenry at the centre of their minds, actions and plans.

“Our politicians should see politics as a dynamic game and what I will advise is for them to play the game on the basis of ideology and programmes.

“Let them envision the way they want the country to be and not targeting to be ministers, governors and president.

“After becoming all these and nothing is done in the interest of the country, we will not get better.

“They should eschew politics of ethnicity and religion because not making our country the focal point of our politics has held us down for so long,” he said.

He further attributed his long live to ‘gift of GOD’ as he looks to turn 100 years in December.

He said that his father died at 107 years and his mother are the age of 100−stressing that the effects of his parents’ long living might added to his longevity.

“My children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are more than 80 and still expanding. I give glory to God for these,” he said.

China Granted Approval To Manufacture Electric Vehicle In Nigeria

Amidst ongoing bilateral trade relations between Nigeria and China, the Federal Government of Nigeria has granted China approval to manufacture electric vehicles in Nigeria.

The report is contained in the statement issued by the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, YU Dunhai, who praised the imperative of advanced collaboration between the two countries in unearthing the potentials of Nigeria’s Solid Minerals sector by manufacturing electric vehicles in Nigeria.

This development was revealed by Dunhai when paying a courtesy visit to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, in his office, where he stressed the relevance of closer between both countries in advancing Nigeria’s industrial growth.

On Sunday, in a statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Segun Tomori, revealed moves by China to establish vehicle factories in Nigeria.

The Chinese Ambassador described Nigeria as a great country, blessed with vast natural resources, noting that the Asian country has also ranked Nigeria pivotally in tis foreign policy.

Recalling recent apex engagement between President of Nigeria and the Chinese President, during Tinubu’s visit to China, Ambassador Dunhai said that both leaders have agreed to enhance bilateral relations to a comprehensive tactical level, creating new opportunities for cooperation.

In his remark, the Minister of Solid Mineral Development reiterated that Nigeria is open to serious business, adding that investments in the country’s mining industry are now at local value addition.

He implored the Chinese Ambassador to encourage Chinese investors to fully come to Nigeria for investments, from extraction to processing, with the West African country.

He highlighted Nigeria’s large market and the potential to reduce reliance on fossil fuels following the manufacturing of electric vehicles.

“For years, our minerals have been exported raw to fuel foreign industrialisation. That must change. We now prioritise local processing to drive Nigeria’s development.

For instance, with the abundance of lithium, we want to see local manufacturing of electric vehicles and batteries,” he said.

Reacting to Dunhai’s support for Nigeria’s local value-addition policy, highlighting the one of the Chinese President’s, Xi Jinping’s, key focuses is to promote industrialisation of Africa.

“Plans are underway to establish electric vehicle factories and other manufacturing ventures in Nigeria.

“Chinese companies are already deeply involved in Nigeria’s mining sector, from exploration to processing.

“We aim to deepen this collaboration, especially in line with President Tinubu’s eight priority areas, notably economic diversification through solid minerals,” he added.

Dunhai also noted that the embassy and the Chinese Authority have always directed Chinese companies, operating in Nigeria, to abide by rules and regulations, implement Corporate Social Responsibility and strictly adhere to environmental and safety standards, adding that the Chinese government will not tolerate illegal mining, signifying preparedness to work with the Nigerian government to bring suspected persons to justice.

In his reaction, Alake said that Nigeria was grateful for its enduring relations with China, acknowledging that most Chinese companies operate within constitutional frameworks.

Howbeit, he expressed worries and concerns over the actions of a few Chinese operators denting Chinese images, recalling a recent viral clip depicting Chinese citizen allegedly bribing local security operatives.

“We have taken action against illegal operators, including some Chinese nationals.

While isolated, such incidents undermine the good work of many compliant Chinese firms.

We need your cooperation in ensuring that such culprits are brought to justice,” the minister asserted.

The minister also cited the impact of the Mining Marshals put in place to curb illegal mining activities, affirming the the security outfit has sent the right signal in the sector, raised awareness about menace.and has enhanced compliance with authority by both native and foreign miners.
