• Gen. Yakubu Gowon Says Two Christian Friends in Plateau Betrayed Him in New Memoir

Former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.), has revealed that two of his Christian friends from Plateau State betrayed him, saying the experience remains one of the painful memories of his life.

Gowon made the revelation in his newly launched memoir, My Life of Duty, unveiled in Abuja during a ceremony attended by prominent national figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former First Lady Aisha Buhari, former Heads of State, senior military officers, diplomats, and other distinguished guests.

In the book, the former Head of State recalled that two of his Christian friends in Plateau State abandoned and betrayed him, noting that the incident left a lasting emotional impact.

According to Gowon, despite the passage of time, he still feels the pain of what he described as their betrayal.

The elder statesman explained that one of the major reasons for writing My Life of Duty was to correct what he described as longstanding misconceptions and inaccurate interpretations about his life, his leadership, and the policies of his administration.

He said the memoir offers his personal account of key events in Nigeria

  • Three Years After Lalong Left Office, Nigerians Reflect on His Legacy

Three years after the administration of former Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong came to an end, residents and political observers have continued to reflect on his eight-year tenure, with discussions centering on his achievements, shortcomings, and overall legacy.

Across social media platforms and public forums, many Nigerians have been asking a common question: "Three years after the Lalong administration ended, what stands out most to you about his time in office?"

The question has generated diverse reactions, with some respondents highlighting infrastructure development, road construction, educational reforms, and efforts to promote peaceful coexistence during his administration.

Others, however, pointed to persistent security challenges, economic concerns, unemployment, and governance issues, arguing that these remain among the defining aspects of Lalong

Youtuber, Jake Paul beats Tyron Woodley by spilt decision at the glitzy Cleveland Boxing Extravaganza on Saturday night.

The Youtuber turned boxer went the distance for the first time in his boxing career as he secured a split decision victory over Tyron Woodley on a glitzy night in Cleveland.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer, 24, was rocked by a solid right hand which sent him into the ropes from former UFC champion Woodley, 39, in the fourth round.

However, Paul Woodley, who had won his previous four fights within two rounds, won 77-75, 75-77, 78-74 on the scorecards.

The 24-year-old YouTube sensation-turned-boxer faced his toughest test to date in former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

However, Paul Jake who is now 4-0 worked behind a sharp jab to offset the offensive Woodley, and went the distance for the first time in his career, snatching an eight-round split-decision victory.

It should be said that it was not an easy fight for Jake Paul, after all. Woodley sent Paul into the ropes with a hard right hand in the fourth but Paul composed himself and overcame conditioning issues late to hold off Woodley.

“He’s a tough opponent,” Paul said afterwards. “All respect to Tyron. There was a lot of shit talk back and forth but I respect him.”

The build to the fight was contentious. There were a pair of near-brawls, at the pre-fight press conference on Thursday and the weigh-in Saturday.

The fighters finally had the opportunity to settle the score in front of a rabid crowd at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Paul’s hometown. Fans were divided between the two fighters as Paul has embraced the villain role.

A bet was made early on in the promotion where the loser would have to get the winner’s name tattooed on his body. Woodley lost, so Paul suggested a rematch could take place as long as Woodley got the tattoo in the locker room following the fight.

Whether either fighter holds up their end of the bargain remains to be seen, but for now, Paul’s journey in the sweet science moves on.

Daniel Dubois Vs Joe Cusumano

British heavyweight Daniel Dubois made easy work of Joe Cusumano with a first-round technical knockout victory after sending his opponent to the canvas three times in one of the undercards of  Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley.

And Tommy Fury’s hopes of fighting Paul were boosted by a win over US newcomer Anthony Taylor, Paul’s sparring partner.

“Let’s get it on Jake. I’ve done my bit, you do your bit,” said Fury after he won by unanimous decision on his US debut.

“It should be easy enough for him, I went four rounds with his sparring partner. I’m a seven-fight novice in the gym, nowhere near the finished article.”

But Fury may have to wait for his showdown with Paul as Woodley, who was making his boxing debut, demanded a rematch, believing he had won.

Paul – who is three inches taller than Woodley but at 13st 8lb only half a pound heavier – said he would take the fight if his opponent got a tattoo.

“Me (sic) and Jake need to run it back. I want a rematch. I feel like I won,” Woodley said.

“If you get a tattoo ‘I love Jake Paul’ then we will run it back,” Paul retorted, to which Woodley agreed.
