At Morganable, we believe advertising can support quality journalism without compromising editorial trust, reader experience, or public interest reporting. This Advertising Policy explains how advertising, sponsored content, paid promotions, and commercial relationships are handled on morganable.com.
Our goal is to maintain a clear separation between editorial decision-making and commercial activity, while ensuring that all advertising on our platform is lawful, transparent, respectful to readers, and consistent with high publishing standards.
1. Editorial Independence
Morganable maintains full editorial independence.
Advertisers, sponsors, commercial partners, affiliates, and third parties do not control Morganable’s newsroom decisions, article selection, headlines, opinions, investigations, or editorial conclusions. Payment for advertising or sponsorship does not guarantee favourable coverage, suppression of coverage, altered reporting, or preferential editorial treatment.
Editorial content is produced in the interest of readers and the public. Commercial relationships will never be allowed to mislead readers into believing that paid material is independent journalism.
2. Clear Separation Between Advertising and Editorial Content
Morganable clearly distinguishes advertising from editorial material.
Any paid or promotional content published on our platform will be clearly labelled using terms such as:
- Advertisement
- Sponsored
- Sponsored Content
- Paid Partnership
- Promoted
Labels will be placed where readers can easily see and understand them. We do not allow advertising or sponsorship arrangements that conceal, disguise, or misrepresent promotional material as independent reporting or editorial opinion. This approach reflects Google’s News and Discover guidance on sponsored content transparency.
3. Advertising Standards
Morganable may accept digital advertising in formats including display ads, native ads, audio-visual sponsorships, newsletter placements, branded opportunities, and other lawful commercial formats, provided they meet our standards.
All advertising on Morganable must:
- be lawful, decent, and not misleading;
- be clearly distinguishable from editorial content;
- respect reader safety, dignity, and trust;
- not contain deceptive claims, malicious code, hidden redirects, or harmful downloads;
- not imitate article layouts, newsroom labels, bylines, breaking news alerts, or editorial interface elements in a misleading manner;
- not disrupt access to the main content.
Advertising must never overshadow the article or the reader’s ability to understand what is editorial and what is promotional. Google’s guidance explicitly warns against excessive ads and designs that make the main content hard to distinguish.
4. Ad Placement and User Experience
Morganable is committed to a strong page experience across desktop and mobile devices.
We therefore aim to ensure that:
- advertising and promotional material do not exceed the substance of the page’s core editorial content;
- ads do not obstruct, cover, or significantly delay access to the main article;
- pages are not overloaded with intrusive, distracting, or disruptive advertising units;
- interstitials, overlays, auto-expanding formats, or aggressive pop-ups do not undermine usability;
- ad placements do not create confusion between journalism and paid promotion;
- mobile presentation remains readable, fast, and easy to navigate.
This is consistent with Google’s published page experience and News/Discover guidance.
5. Sponsored Content and Brand Collaborations
Morganable may publish sponsored or branded content where appropriate, but such content must meet strict transparency and quality requirements.
Sponsored content must:
- be clearly disclosed to readers;
- identify the commercial nature of the material;
- avoid misleading readers into believing it is independent newsroom reporting;
- meet basic standards of accuracy, legality, taste, and public responsibility;
- comply with Morganable’s editorial, ethics, and disclosure principles.
Where relevant, Morganable may also disclose the nature of the relationship, including sponsorship, commercial support, affiliate relationships, or material partnership.
Morganable reserves the right to reject any sponsored content that is deceptive, excessively promotional, poorly substantiated, harmful to readers, or inconsistent with our editorial standards.
6. Native Advertising
Native advertising must never mislead readers.
Where Morganable publishes native advertising or commercially produced features designed to match the site’s visual environment, such material will still be clearly labelled in plain language. Native ads must not mimic news reports, investigations, editorials, or staff-written journalism in a way that could reasonably confuse readers.
Commercial material must remain recognisable as commercial material.
7. Affiliate Links and Commerce Content
Morganable may occasionally use affiliate links or publish commerce-related content. In such cases, appropriate disclosure will be provided to readers.
Affiliate relationships do not determine our editorial judgment. Any product mentions, recommendations, or commerce content should be guided by relevance, reader value, and editorial standards, not solely by commission potential.
Where affiliate links are used, Morganable will aim to make that commercial relationship clear.
8. Prohibited Advertising Categories
Morganable reserves the right to reject, remove, suspend, or restrict advertisements that, in our judgment, are unlawful, deceptive, unsafe, exploitative, or inconsistent with our standards.
We may refuse advertising involving, among other things:
- false or misleading claims;
- scams, fraud, or impersonation;
- malicious software, harmful code, or unsafe redirects;
- hate speech, incitement, harassment, or degrading content;
- unlawful products or services;
- deceptive health, finance, or “get rich quick” claims;
- manipulated political persuasion lacking proper transparency;
- explicit or exploitative material that is unsuitable for our audience or brand;
- any ad category prohibited or restricted by applicable law, platform rules, or publisher policies.
We may also reject advertising that creates a reputational risk for Morganable or undermines public trust in our journalism.
9. Accuracy and Claims in Advertising
Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that all claims, offers, prices, testimonials, data points, endorsements, and representations in their advertising are accurate, lawful, substantiated, and up to date.
Morganable may request revisions, substantiation, or supporting documentation before accepting an advertisement. Acceptance of an advertisement by Morganable does not constitute endorsement of the advertiser, product, service, or claim.
10. Political, Advocacy, and Public Interest Advertising
Political, election-related, advocacy, and issue-based advertising may be subject to enhanced review, restrictions, additional disclosures, or refusal.
Where such advertising is accepted, Morganable may require greater transparency regarding sponsorship, origin, or responsibility for the message. Morganable reserves the right to reject any campaign that is misleading, inflammatory, deceptive, unlawful, or inconsistent with responsible public-interest publishing.
11. Third-Party Ad Networks and Programmatic Advertising
Morganable may use third-party ad networks, exchanges, programmatic services, ad servers, or monetisation platforms.
Where third-party advertising technology is used, we expect those providers and creative assets to comply with applicable laws, platform rules, and reasonable standards for safety, quality, privacy, and transparency. Morganable may block, remove, or restrict ad categories, advertisers, formats, or vendors that create a poor user experience or pose compliance or brand-safety concerns.
Publishers using Google monetisation products are required to keep pace with Google publisher policy updates.
12. Privacy, Data Use, and Consent
Advertising on Morganable must operate in a way that respects applicable privacy and data protection requirements.
Where cookies, consent tools, measurement technologies, or personalisation systems are used in connection with advertising, Morganable aims to present appropriate notices and consent mechanisms in line with applicable legal and platform requirements.
Readers should also review our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for more information on how data may be handled in connection with advertising and analytics.
13. No Guaranteed Editorial Influence
The purchase of advertising does not entitle any advertiser to:
- editorial coverage;
- favourable coverage;
- suppression of negative news coverage;
- guaranteed placement next to specific editorial themes unless expressly agreed as a clearly commercial arrangement;
- influence over newsroom staffing, publication timing, or editorial position.
Morganable’s newsroom and commercial functions are expected to operate separately.
14. Labelling and Disclosure Practices
To protect reader trust, Morganable may use visible disclosure statements such as:
- “This content is sponsored.”
- “Advertisement”
- “Paid Partnership”
- “Morganable may earn a commission from qualifying purchases.”
The wording used may vary depending on format, but the principle remains the same: readers should be able to understand the commercial nature of the material without confusion.
15. Ad Review, Removal, and Enforcement
Morganable reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to:
- reject advertising before publication;
- request edits or additional disclosure;
- suspend or remove advertisements after publication;
- refuse future campaigns from advertisers who breach our standards;
- take any reasonable compliance action necessary to protect readers, the site, and editorial integrity.
This includes situations where an advert, sponsorship, or promotional campaign is later found to be misleading, unlawful, harmful, non-compliant, or damaging to trust.
16. Reader Trust and Quality Commitment
Morganable is committed to publishing journalism and commentary in a way that readers can trust.
We aim to ensure that advertising supports our work without weakening the credibility, readability, discoverability, or integrity of our journalism. We recognise that trust, transparency, and user experience are essential not only for readers, but also for visibility in surfaces such as Google Search, Google News, and Google Discover. Google’s documentation consistently stresses transparent sponsorship disclosure and ad experiences that do not interfere with content.
17. Changes to This Policy
Morganable may update this Advertising Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, regulation, business practices, advertising technology, platform standards, or editorial policy.
The latest version published on morganable.com will apply from the date of publication.
