Nigerian artists dominated the 2026 AFRIMMA Awards, with Davido, Tems, BNXN, Phyno and other stars securing major honours at the ceremony in Dallas, Texas.

Nigerian music stars made a strong impact at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) in Dallas, Texas.
Davido, Tems, Ruger, Phyno and several other Nigerian artistes were among the major winners at the ceremony. The event took place on September 12 and marked the return of AFRIMMA after a two-year break.
The 2026 edition recognised African artists and entertainers in 41 categories. It also brought together talents from Africa and the diaspora. As a result, the ceremony attracted attention from music fans across the continent.
Davido recorded one of Nigeria’s biggest wins of the night. His fifth studio album, 5ive, won the Album of the Year award.
Released in April 2025, 5ive features several local and international artists. They include Chris Brown, Victoria Monét, Becky G, Omah Lay and Victony.
The award was significant because Davido entered the ceremony with five nominations. He was the leading Nigerian nominee and competed in several major categories.
However, he did not win the Artist of the Year award. That honour went to Congolese music star Fally Ipupa. Ipupa also won the Crossing Boundaries with Music Award.
Nigeria recorded another major victory through BNXN and producer Sarz. Their song Back Outside won Song of the Year.
