Akure —

Jay-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The National Football League (NFL), Apple Music and Roc Nation announced the news on October 26, ending speculation about the event’s leading performer.

The announcement came during the Dallas Cowboys’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles, bringing the rapper’s long relationship with the show into the spotlight.

The performance will mark Jay-Z’s first appearance as a Super Bowl halftime headliner. It also creates a notable moment in a partnership that has seen his entertainment company help shape the event for years.

Rather than selecting another artist to perform, Jay-Z will now take centre stage himself at one of the world’s most watched sporting events.

The rapper welcomed the announcement by reflecting on his journey from his 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt, to the Super Bowl stage.

He described the opportunity as a dream come true and connected it to 30 years of music, work and culture.

The milestone comes during a year of celebrations marking three decades since the release of his first album.

A MAJOR CAREER MILESTONE

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has built a career that reaches far beyond recording music.

He has won 25 Grammy Awards and earned recognition for his work as a songwriter, entrepreneur and music executive.

His catalogue includes acclaimed albums such as Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint and The Black Album, alongside popular songs that have shaped hip-hop for generations.

Jay-Z’s selection is especially significant because he has helped produce the halftime show without previously headlining it.

Roc Nation partnered with the NFL in 2019 to advise on live music entertainment and help produce the annual performance.

Since then, the company has played a central role in bringing major artists to the Super Bowl stage.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell praised Jay-Z’s impact on the event and said he had hoped the rapper would perform one day.

Goodell noted that the partnership began with the idea that Jay-Z might eventually decide the time was right to appear himself.

He said he was excited for audiences to experience the artist’s creativity and cultural influence at the game.

FANS AWAIT GUEST PERFORMERS

The announcement has already prompted questions about which artists might join Jay-Z on stage.

Beyoncé is likely to remain a focus of public discussion because she is his wife and a frequent musical collaborator.

She headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in 2013 and later appeared as a guest during the 2016 performance with Coldplay.

Still, the organisers have not confirmed that Beyoncé will appear in 2027. Alicia Keys may also attract speculation because of her work with Jay-Z on Empire State of Mind.

Other artists connected to his career could prompt similar guesses, but no guest performer should be treated as confirmed until the NFL, Apple Music or Roc Nation makes an announcement.

Jay-Z’s recent concerts have added to the excitement around the event.

His Jay-Z 30 celebrations included sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium in New York, followed by performances in London, Paris and Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles concerts took place at SoFi Stadium, the same venue that will host Super Bowl LXI.

The Super Bowl halftime show has become one of the most prominent live music events in the world.

It reaches viewers who may not usually follow a performer’s albums or concerts, creating an opportunity to introduce songs to new audiences.

As a result, the show often sparks discussion about the music, staging, costumes and surprise appearances long after the final whistle.

Jay-Z’s appointment adds another major hip-hop figure to that history. His work has influenced artists across rap and popular music, while his business ventures have made him a powerful figure in the entertainment industry.

Therefore, his performance could appeal both to longtime fans and to viewers who know him through his business profile or collaborations. It carries weight across the wider music industry.

DATE, VENUE AND BROADCAST DETAILS

Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, near Los Angeles.

The date falls on Valentine’s Day, which may add another talking point around the event.

The halftime show will take place during the game, but organisers have not announced an exact performance start time.

The NFL says the event will air on ABC and ESPN, with streaming available through Disney+ and NFL+ on supported mobile devices.

ESPN Deportes and Disney+ will also carry a Spanish-language presentation, while Univision will offer a separate Spanish-language broadcast.

Viewers outside the United States should check local listings closer to the date because broadcast options may vary by country.

For now, the central details are confirmed: Jay-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium.

The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation have announced his role, and Roc Nation will executive-produce the show. Questions about the setlist, staging and guest performers remain unanswered.

As preparations continue, further announcements may reveal more about the production and any additional performers. Until then, fans should separate official information from online rumours.

Jay-Z’s selection already marks a significant development, bringing an artist who has helped shape the halftime show behind the scenes into its leading role.

The performance will unite two defining parts of his career: his music and his work in entertainment leadership.

After decades of recording, touring and building businesses, Jay-Z is preparing to take the Super Bowl stage on his own terms. That makes the 2027 halftime show one of the most watched entertainment events on the calendar.
