Iran-Israel Update: US Bomb Iran Nuclear Site as it claims attack was not about change of regime
Amid Iran’s refusal to lay down arms in its one ongoing war with Israel, the United State of America launches its first attack on three Iranian nuclear sites late last night.
It was reported that more than 125 US aircrafts were used in the midnight attack on Iran.
However, the United States has come out to refute that rumoured claim that the bombing raid on Iran’s major nuclear sites carried was all about change u=in regime.

Today, Sunday, 22nd June, 2025, addressing a group of reporters in the Pentagon, US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth disclosed that destroying Iran’s major nuclear sites was the purpose for the attack, after failure to reach ceasefire agreement.

“Donald Trump decided this is the moment, given their stonewalling, when direct military action had to be taken,” Mr. Hegseth said.
Hegseth described the strike on the Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan nuclear sites as an “incredible and overwhelming success”, stressing that they “devastated the Iranian nuclear programme.”
He also issued a warning that any retaliation from Iran will be met with a force “far greater” than the current strikes.
The US defence secretary’s comments come after Tehran alleged that the US has crossed a “very big red line”, after President Donald Trump earlier announced that the US warplanes had “obliterated” the three Iran’s nuclear sites.
Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi earlier stated that the extent of damage caused by US strike was unclear as of the moment.
Speaking from Istanbul, Turkey, where he was with counterparts from European and Arab states earlier this week, Araghchi alleged that Washington has “betrayed” their negotiations over nuclear deal.

Operational Flights From London to Doha Called Of Following US’s Iran Strike
Aftermath of US’s strike on three major Iran’s nuclear sites, flights from London to Doha has been called off.
This development comes after a British Airways (BA) flight from London Heathrow to Dubai was made to divert to Zurich last night (Saturday night).
The BA109 flight took off from the United Kingdom at 9:53pm on Saturday and got to Saudi Arabia before the Boeing 878 Dreamliner changed its course, landing in Switzerland, as reported by flight-tracking website, flightradar24.
Every airlines’ flight to Dubai and Doha which were billed to take off from Heathrow on Sunday have been called off, including return flights, the company reported.
Israel declared on Sunday that its airspace had been closed- both inbound and outbound flights─in the aftermath of the US attacks on Iran.
The United States Vice President J. D. Vance said today (Sunday) that the country has successfully rolled back Iran’s nuclear weapons programme, stressing that President Donald Trump now looks to find diplomatic solution.
“We do not want to protract this or build this out any more than it’s already been built out. We want to end their nuclear program,” Vance said, speaking on NBC’s “Meet the Press with Kristen Welker.”
“We want to talk to the Iranians about a long-term settlement here,” he added.

“That’s what the Iranian president needs to understand, as the president put it out last night: he wants peace, there needs to be a negotiated settlement here.
“We ultimately demonstrated that Iran cannot have a nuclear capability, that is a very clear mission statement.”
Attack Was Not About Regime Change ─ Hegseth
The United States Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth said the midnight attack on Iranian nuclear sites was not about regime change, rather Washington has come against Iran’s continuation of its nuclear programme.
“[Trump] decided this is the moment, given their stonewalling, when direct military action had to be taken,” Hegseth says.
Pete Hegseth gave his press conference from Pentagon but it is obvious he is more interested in domestic affairs rather than international ones.
The defence secretary is reportedly working strictly on the point that only President Donald Trump would be able to “obliterate” Iran’s nuclear weapons.
