• Gen. Yakubu Gowon Says Two Christian Friends in Plateau Betrayed Him in New Memoir

Former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.), has revealed that two of his Christian friends from Plateau State betrayed him, saying the experience remains one of the painful memories of his life.

Gowon made the revelation in his newly launched memoir, My Life of Duty, unveiled in Abuja during a ceremony attended by prominent national figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former First Lady Aisha Buhari, former Heads of State, senior military officers, diplomats, and other distinguished guests.

In the book, the former Head of State recalled that two of his Christian friends in Plateau State abandoned and betrayed him, noting that the incident left a lasting emotional impact.

According to Gowon, despite the passage of time, he still feels the pain of what he described as their betrayal.

The elder statesman explained that one of the major reasons for writing My Life of Duty was to correct what he described as longstanding misconceptions and inaccurate interpretations about his life, his leadership, and the policies of his administration.

He said the memoir offers his personal account of key events in Nigeria

  • Three Years After Lalong Left Office, Nigerians Reflect on His Legacy

Three years after the administration of former Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong came to an end, residents and political observers have continued to reflect on his eight-year tenure, with discussions centering on his achievements, shortcomings, and overall legacy.

Across social media platforms and public forums, many Nigerians have been asking a common question: "Three years after the Lalong administration ended, what stands out most to you about his time in office?"

The question has generated diverse reactions, with some respondents highlighting infrastructure development, road construction, educational reforms, and efforts to promote peaceful coexistence during his administration.

Others, however, pointed to persistent security challenges, economic concerns, unemployment, and governance issues, arguing that these remain among the defining aspects of Lalong

“Hezbollah Bombed, Lebanon Next,” Say Israeli Troops

Israeli Troops Strike Again In a Widespread Air Wave

The Israeli Military fired its most-ever widespread air wave attack on Hezbollah, a terrorist organisation known to be an ally of Iran.

Lebanon, Bekaa valley and a northern region close to Syria are said to be the next areas to be targetted by the troops in a way close to a year in duration.

Answering fielded question about a probable Israeli invading Lebanon, Daniel Hagari said, “we will do whatever is needed in order to return evacuated residents of northern Israel to their homes safely, a war priority for the Israeli government.”

This recent strike came following a border-to-border heavy shooting regarding the between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Hagari issued a plea to the people inhabiting south Lebanon to evacuate Hezbollah areas, a country Hagari accused of harbouring dangerous weapons which it has stored up for the years, like, cruise missiles, most especially in houses and building in and around southern Lebanon.

In a media briefing, Hagari accused Hezbollah Troops of attempting to launch a cruise missile from a civilian house in Lebanon which prompted Israeli to strike first.

“Hezbollah is endangering you. Endangering you and your families,” Hagari warned.

He disclosed that Israel started to hit Hezbollah areas in Lebanon after it discovered that Hezbollah was attempting strike on Israeli territory.

Reports stated that Israeli warplanes were spotted emitting intense wave air strike on communities around Lebanon’s southern border, further into southern part of the city of Tyre.

The strike which was reported to harm a reporter along the towns on the northern part.

Iran’s Guards Suspend Internet Devices Following Israel Strike On Hezbollah

Iran’s Guards, known as Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), has issued an order that all its members should stop using internet devices following explosion of hundreds pagers and walkie-talkie used by the allies of Hezbollah, in Lebanon.

Reports have revealed that the Iran’s Revolutionary outfit is on a mission to assess all devices, which are not meant to be communication devices alone, either made in Iran or imported from Russia and China.

Stern concerns have been raised by Iran over the encroachment of Israeli forces, and unpatriotic Iranians who are being placed on payroll for working as secret agents against their country (Iran).

Senior member of the IRGC, who preferred his identity be hidden, has stated that the group is embarking on a thorough investigation among the low and top members, to filter out the bad eggs within the group.

“This includes scrutiny of their bank accounts both in Iran and abroad, as well as their travel history and that of their families,” the security official said.

When reached to confirm the claim made by the senior member of the IRGC, the Iran’s Ministries of Defence and Interior were not available.

It was reported pager devices and walkie-talkie exploded on Tuesday and Wednesdays last week, around Hezbollah’s territory, which took claimed 39 lives and left over 3,000 people injured – an attack yet to be claimed responsibility for or denied Israel.

However, the security official refused letting out information on how the IRGC force, made up of 190,000 operatives, are communicating

“For now, we are using end-to-end encryption in messaging systems,” he said.

According to him, in conclusion, he said there are a serious concern within the Iran’s establishment that IRGC is set to assist Hezbollah in carrying out technical assessment on the exploded devices which will be sent to Tehran for examination.
