Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame Encore is drawing audiences back to cinemas in India, seven years after the original film closed the Infinity Saga.
The special re-release arrived on September 25, 2026, with additional footage and new material designed to build anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday.
That took its two-day net collection to ₹14.90 crore, while its gross collection reached ₹17.83 crore. The film played across about 3,700 theatres in the country.
The second-day result also represented growth from the opening day. Endgame Encore earned about ₹7.25 crore net on September 25, according to the same reported figures.
Therefore, the film added a larger amount on its second day as more moviegoers went to theatres during the weekend.
The re-release is not simply a repeat of the 2019 version. Marvel has added new material to give returning fans another reason to watch the film on the big screen.
Reports before release said the Encore edition contains several new scenes, including an extended ending and post-credits material. Some premium screenings also feature an exclusive look connected to Avengers: Doomsday.
That connection has become an important part of the film’s current theatrical campaign. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 18, 2026.
As a result, the Endgame re-release gives Marvel an opportunity to reconnect audiences with the previous Avengers story while creating interest in the next major chapter.
The strategy has already generated considerable attention in India. Before the re-release, advance bookings showed strong demand.
India Today reported that advance sales had reached about ₹4.45 crore across the first three days of bookings, including block seats. The film was also scheduled to screen in several premium formats, including IMAX and 4DX, as well as standard presentations.
Moreover, Marvel released the film in multiple languages in India. Audiences can watch the Encore edition in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
This wider release gives the film access to audiences across several major Indian-language markets.
The English version has performed particularly well so far. The Times of India reported that the English-language version recorded 43.1 percent occupancy on the second day and earned about ₹5.60 crore.
The Hindi version followed with 22.9 percent occupancy and approximately ₹1.35 crore. Tamil and Telugu screenings also contributed to the overall total.
The popularity of the re-release has also appeared inside cinemas. A video reported by The Times of India showed Indian fans reacting loudly during the famous battle between Captain America and Thanos.
The audience cheered when Captain America lifted Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, before joining the fight. The report said fireworks and a light display also appeared during one Chennai screening.
Meanwhile, directors Anthony and Joe Russo have asked fans to protect the new material from spoilers.
Before the theatrical return, the filmmakers appealed to audiences to allow other viewers to discover the surprises for themselves. Their message reflects the importance of the new scenes to the Encore experience.
The film’s return also carries a strong nostalgic element. Avengers: Endgame originally opened in 2019 and became the conclusion of Marvel’s Infinity Saga. It brought together many of the studio’s major heroes for a final confrontation with Thanos.
The original release became a major global box-office event, and its return allows audiences to experience that story in cinemas again.
However, the Encore edition is arriving in a different theatrical environment. It faces competition from other films showing in Indian cinemas.
The Times of India noted that several other releases are also competing for audiences during the weekend. Therefore, Endgame Encore will need to maintain its momentum as the weekend continues.
Still, its early numbers show that the Marvel brand continues to attract cinema audiences. The film’s performance also demonstrates the commercial potential of theatrical re-releases when studios combine nostalgia with new content.
In this case, Marvel has added material that connects the old film with an upcoming Avengers project.
At the same time, the figures should be viewed carefully. The ₹14.90 crore figure represents India’s net collection after two days, while the reported ₹17.83 crore figure represents gross collection.
These figures also cover only the opening two days, so they do not yet show the full performance of the re-release.
The weekend will provide a clearer picture of its theatrical run. If audience interest remains strong, the film could continue adding to its Indian total.
However, the final outcome will depend on attendance, show availability, competition and audience response in the coming days.
For Marvel fans, the Encore release offers more than a chance to revisit a familiar story. It also creates a bridge between the Infinity Saga and the next Avengers era.
With Doomsday scheduled for December, the added material gives viewers another reason to pay attention to what comes after Endgame.
As the re-release continues, Marvel will be watching both the box office and audience reaction.
For now, Endgame Encore has made ₹14.90 crore net in India after two days. That result gives the seven-year-old blockbuster a strong start to its latest theatrical chapter.
The renewed theatrical run also highlights how studios can use established franchises to create fresh cinema events.
Rather than relying only on the original film’s reputation, Marvel has added new material and tied the experience to a future release.
Consequently, fans have a new reason to return, while first-time viewers can experience the blockbuster on a large screen again.
