Following Arsenal’s failure win the English Premier League title for twenty years now, Arteta claims the Gunners deserved to win last two titles.

Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta has claimed that the club deserve to win last two EPL titles but failed and that has given them belief going forward.

He stated that there is strong belief within the club that they can catch up the Table-toppers, Liverpool, and clinch the iconic title.

The Arsenal boss also discusses his experience with the team’s bid to win the EPL titles in the last two seasons, stating expressing belief that his Arsenal side should have had the last two English Premier League titles to their names considering the standards of their performance and the level they hit.

Using that as a justification, he said, though they are without any title yet, but hopeful that his team can beat Liverpool to this season’s title.

During the last two seasons, Arsenal competed with Manchester City for the title, securing 84 and 89 points respectively but were beaten twice to the titles by City, which made the Gunners clinch the runners-up spot on both occasions.

In the ongoing campaign, Man. City are currently out of the picture but Liverpool seem to be the major threat Arsenal will have to beat if they were to have any chance of lifting the PL title this season.

After the weekend’s fixtures, both Arsenal and Liverpool recorded disappointing draws against their opponents.

So, Liverpool remain six points at the summit with a game in hand.

Answering a question fielded by Sky Sports’ Natalia Gedra on how silence critics claiming that Arsenal are too far below the EPL summit this season.

Arteta said: “Winning and performing the way we are today, regardless of what happens with the team and focusing on the things we can control every single day – paying attention to that.

“Because there are a lot of games to play and in this league, it can be one, two, three [results] and everything is changed. We have to be ready.”

When asked what his lesson from last two seasons was, Arteta said: “That you can always do better and you can always improve.

“With those numbers, normally you win and we should have two Premier Leagues.

“The reality is we don’t, so there’s more motivation, more eagerness, more enthusiasm to say: can we still look at our team and say we can be better? My answer is yes in every department, so let’s go for it.”

It remains to be seen if Arsenal will sign a striker during the current transfer window as it is apparent that the Gunners are seriously in need of a standing number 9.

Bringing in a striker to add more firepower to the attacking style of play will also boost their hopes of reaching the summit of the EPL in May.

The North London outfit’s need for a striker was further intensified following a long-term injury to their talisman, Bukayo Saka, who sustained hamstring injury before Christmas, which might rule him out of action until February ending.

“It’s natural that it happens,” said Arteta about the constant transfer window questions at this time of year.

“There’s the opportunity to improve the squad, to bring players that you believe can impact. We are always open to that.
