When will UK heatwaves end? As temperature rises again
The climate is not friendly to more than 80% of residents in the United Kingdom as the country experiences breakout of wildfire in London amidst current heatwave warning.
Temperatures might reach as high as 34C in many parts of the United Kingdom today as the country goes through fourth heatwave of the summer, while thunderstorms are also expected to hit the country this week.
The alarming heat-health prompt remains intact for the West Midlands, East Midlands South East, London, and East of England until 6pm on Wednesday, while majority of other places in England is already placed under yellow alerts. As of now, a thunderstorm warning has also been issued by the Met Office.

The yellow weather alert will be placed across most of Scotland and Northern Ireland from midnight until 10pm on Thursday, with forecast alerting βheavy showers and thunderstormsβ.
This warning was issued after temperature increased at alarming 33.4C two days ago, with the highest readings estimated in Benson, Oxfordshire, Ross-om-Wye in Herefordshire, and Northolt in west London.
And this temperature could increase even higher, according to a report from Met Office, soaring as high as 34C in some parts of England.
Today, as expected, temperature could climb as high as 34C in some areas of the country as the fourth heatwave during this summer persists.
On Wednesday, forecasters expected more heat, but today, it is expected to be cooler but still warns of heater condition at the closing of today, and a restore of hot weather in the south and South East by Friday.
According to a statement by Met Office meteorologist Creg Dewhurst during an interview: βThe heatwave is looking likely to last the rest of the week.β
He added: βBeyond that, it should be a bit cooler.β
The Met Office suggested Tuesday and Wednesday will experience the apex of the heatwave before a gradual cooling off throughout the rest of the week.
Howbeit, Mr. Dewhurst said warm weathers are expected to remain until mid-September.
But with heatwave increasing by the day, the Met Office issues warnings that Britons should be prepared for thunderstorms.

In the statement of Met Office chief Meteorologist Dan Suri: βWednesday brings a more complex picture, with high temperatures but also the chance of thunderstorms arriving in the evening… across northern areas, with the potential for some fairly wet weather.
βWhilst the exact location for these unsettled conditions remains uncertain, itβs possible a warning may be issued closer to the time.β
Some dry banks and rivers have been spotted across Ladybower in the Peak District National Park two days ago.
The forecasters had predicted that today might witness thundery rain in the north again, while later on Friday and during the weekend, the southeast might be hit by heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Meteorologist Marco Petagna, an official at the Met Office, updated on the expected temperatures for the week.

He said: βWednesday will be mostly dry with further very warm or hot sunshine, but we will see some showers, particularly in the South East during the afternoon and also a few affecting Scotland during the day, which could turn heavy and thundery.
βIt will be another warm and hot day with maximum temperatures of 33C to 34C, highest in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire.
βOn Thursday there will still be a few showers, particularly in the north, and it will not be quite as hot, but temperatures will still peak around 29 C% to 30 C% in East and south-east England.

The hottest day in August was 38.5C in Faversham, Kent, and on 10th August, 2003, while the hottest day of this year, 2025, so far was 35.8C, which was also witnessed in Faversham, on 1st July.
The Britons can now expect a βlargely dry and settlesβ August, with temperature might remain above average, especially in the south of the UK, as said by Mr. Dewhurst.
βThere is an overall picture of high pressure, and a settled month seems to be main theme,β he said, despite some potentially chillier winds hitting the eastern coast.
βBut I wouldnβt write off summer just yet,β he added.
Many visitors have taken to the shore on the seafront at Southsea, Hampshire, this week, to get cooled from this persistent heatwave.

This is the current and fourth heatwave of the summer which has alerted the UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office to issue a heat warning on Tuesday.
According to Dr. Paul Coleman, consultant in public health at UKHSA: βTemperatures are forecast to rise above 30 C across central and southern parts of the country over the next few days, and generally hot weather is expected across most regions of England.
βThese kind of temperatures can result in serious health outcomes across the populationβparticularly in those who are vulnerable, such as the elderly or those with serious health conditionsβso it is important that everyone takes sensible precautions while enjoying the sun.β
Met Office officials have also warned that England is suffering from βnationally significantβ water shortage despite heavy rain in July.

The national drought group, which includes the regulators, government, water companies, Met Office, and other organisations, has identified five important areas in the country which still remain in drought, with six more listed in prolonged dry weather status.
England is experiencing widespread environmental and agricultural effects emanating from lack of water, which is damaging wetlands and river wildlife, crop yields, feed for livestock and proliferating wildfires, as said by the group.
