• Tinubu Urges Plateau State Governor to Include Hausa/Fulani in his Cabinet, and also Recognize Them as Indigenes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on political leaders in Plateau State to embrace inclusive governance by appointing members of the Hausa/Fulani community to key positions in the state government and recognizing them as indigenes of the state.

The President made the remarks during a high-level dialogue meeting with political, traditional, and religious leaders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Addressing participants at the meeting, Tinubu stressed that sustainable peace and development in Plateau State require fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all communities.

  • Goldman Sachs Lowers 2027 Brent Oil Price Forecast Over Supply Growth, Demand Risks

Goldman Sachs has reduced its forecast for Brent crude oil prices in 2027, citing expectations of increased global oil supply and growing concerns over weaker demand.

The investment bank said rising production from major oil-producing countries, coupled with uncertainties surrounding global economic growth, could place downward pressure on oil prices in the coming years.

Analysts noted that slower economic activity in key markets and the increasing adoption of alternative energy sources may affect long-term demand for crude oil.

The revised outlook comes as energy markets continue to monitor geopolitical developments, production policies by major exporters, and changing consumption patterns worldwide.

Ukraine-Russia War: I have a red line as he reveals his stance after Putin call

Amidst ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has issued a stern warning that Russia’s incessant on Ukraine, which has reportedly killed one person and wounded several others, has higher tone than Vladmir Putin’s “lip service” peace deal.

This statement was made ahead of a European Union ministers’ meeting, Pistorius said: “We have seen massive attacks again in recent days … These speak louder than the lip service we have heard for so long.

“Putin is clearly playing for time. Unfortunately we have to say Putin is not really interested in peace.”

On the other hand, French minister Jean-Noel Barrot also accused the Russian president of hypocrisy, and argued that EU must impose stricter sanctions on Russia.

“I believe that when Vladimir Putin continues to uphold his hypocritical language, everyone has understood that he will carry on with his colonial war to the end if we do not put a stop to it,” said Mr. Barrot.

He added: “Let us push Vladimir Putin to put an end to his imperialist fantasy by adopting sanctions that are truly dissuasive.”

Russia Parts Ways With Amnesty International In A Bid To Curb Opposition

The Russian government has parted ways with Amnesty International, describing it as an “undesirable organisation” and criminalising the human right group’s activities in the country.

This development was made public on Monday by the Russian prosecutor general’s office, in a view to reinforce Kremlin’s move against dissent, which has become worse since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

The Russia ban on the human right organisation’s (Amnesty International) has threatened any individual working for or supporting the organisation with prosecution.

Russian overnight attack on Ukraine has killed at least one person and wounded several others, Ukrainian officials say.

One person has been reportedly killed with six wounded by Russian attacks in Donetsk which has drawn forceful evacuation of over 250 people, said Ukraine’s regional governor.

The fatality took centre stage in Siversk, where five houses were reportedly destroyed, governor Vadym Filashkim said, with several injured persons were also reported in Kramatorsk.

As reported in Kharkiv, two women, aged 45 and 73 respectively, were injured in a Russian attack on the village of Starovirvka, with five others injuries were reported after Russia attacked on Kherson which destroyed a high-rise building and 7 houses, as reported by the regional governor.

Russia Releases Oil Tanker From Baltic Sea Detention

Russia is said to have released a Greek-owned oil tanker with was held in Russian waters on Sunday, and it has continued its journey towards the Dutch port of Rotterdam, reports Estonia’s public broadcaster ERR.

The Liberia-flagged Green Admire was seen underway in the Baltic Sea on Tuesday with its destination believed to be Rotterdam, citing LSEG shit tracking data, reports Reuters.

Estonia’s foreign minister said that Russia’s hold on the Green Admire could be likely its reaction to campaign by the Estonian navy to check tankers used in transporting millions of barrels of Russian oil through Baltic Sea.

It Is Paramount Trump Invites EU and Ukraine To Russia Talks – NATO chief

As it appears “very positive” that Trump administration is involved in the Ukraine peace move, it is also paramount that Europeans and Ukraine are involved as well, Nato chief Mark Rutte warns.

The remark was made ahead of the meeting with European ministers in Brussels

Russia Not Interested In Ukraine Peace – Germany says

Russian President Vladmir Putin is not truly interested in peace returning into Ukraine and is only playing for time in talk with the United States, Germany’s defence minister Boris Pistorius warns.

He stated this ahead of the meeting with the EU defence ministers in Brussels.

Mr. Pistorius emphasised that Europe should impose stricter sanctions on Russia, particularly on Russia’s energy sale.

Ukraine Reveals It Crossed 93 of 108 Drones Fired By Russia

Ukraine has said that it successfully defended itself against 93 of the 108 Shahed and decoy drones fired by Russia in the overnight attacks.

Of the 93 drones which were defended, 35 were brought down, while 58 others were either lost or suppressed deploying electronic warfare, reports Ukraine Air Force.

Several casualties were reported in the region of Donetsk, Kharkov and Kherson, while the air force stated that infrastructure was destroyed in Sumy.

Reports also revealed that further efforts were made in Dnepropetrovsk and Zhitomir.

Over 1,000 Casualties Suffered By Russia

Ukraine has claimed to have dealt a huge blow of a further 1,030 casualties to Russia in the last 24 hours, with another days of fatal fight was recorded along the front line.

Once again, the bloodiest fighting came in the direction of Pokrovsk, with Ukraine claiming to have intercepted 72 Russian assaults in areas near the Donetsk city, which has been central in Vladmir Putin’s sights for months.

No Deadline Can Be Set For Ukraine Talks – Kremlin

There has not been any fixed deadline for a memorandum targetted at ending the war in Ukraine, according to Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin Spokesperson.

The process for Moscow and Kyiv to come about a unified text of a peace and ceasefire memorandum will be difficult, Mr. Peskov said.

This remark from Kremlin mirrors first signs of reluctance in peace talks from Russia following the United States President Donald Trump’s talks with Vladmir Putin, the Russian president, on a lengthy phone call yesterday.

“There are no deadlines and there cannot be any. It is clear that everyone wants to do this as quickly as possible, but, of course, the devil is in the details,” RIA state news agency quoted Mr. Peskov as telling reporters.

“The drafts will be formulated by both the Russian and Ukrainian sides, these draft documents will be exchanged, and then – complex contacts to develop a single text,” the Kremlin spokesperson said.
