This is the worst administration ─ El-Rufai as Onanuga says the former Kaduna State Governor needs help
Amid ongoing economic downturn in the country, former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has alleged that the President Bola Tinubu’s administration is the worst since independence.
On Saturday, in a meeting with former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar El-Rufai called Tinubu’s government a “disgrace to democratic ideals”.
Atiku paid a lone visit to the former FCT minister over the attack which happened during the inauguration of the African democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State.

Reports circulation reveal how political thugs invaded the venue of the inauguration and disrupted the event.
Aftermath of the event, El-Rufai and the government of Kaduna State engaged in heated arguments over the incident, which both sides accusing each other for its responsibility.
The Nigeria Police Force later invited El-Rufai and some ADC chieftains over the incident.
During the visit of Atiku, El-Rufai alleged that this administration is inching towards authoritarianism, juxtaposing President Tinubu with President Paul Biya of Cameroon, who has been in power since assuming office in 1982.
In his claim, he accused the president of centralising power rather than distributing it among various units of the federation.
“Honestly sir, to me, it is even a disgrace. I mean, for people to behave the way they are behaving, it means that all the years of saying that we are for democracy and NADECO, all the claims that we are fighting for true federalism and so on—it was all a pretence, all fake again. Because this government (Tinubu’s administration) is trying to centralize everything instead of devolving power to the lower levels.”

“The sum total of this is that we are facing an evil of such a large proportion in the history of this country that if we don’t come together and end this Tinubu administration by 2027, Tinubu will try to be our Paul Biya. All the signs are there, this is how Paul Biya started,” El-Rufai said.
Commending the vice president’s role on the country’s democratic struggles, the former governor of Kaduna State stated that Nigerians were banking on Atiku’s experience and leadership style to defeat the opposition.
“You (Atiku Abubakar) are our leader, you have done this fight before, you have fought the military, you have experience in democratic governance.
And when you and Obasanjo were in charge of this country, no one was being harassed because he had a different political feel, never, not once.
Even President Buhari, with his military background, never did that, and here we are facing full-fledged civilians but they are worse than any military regime we’ve ever had.
“Your call that we must unite is a timely one. I think the people of Nigeria have made up their mind that APC must be voted out. Nigerians are looking forward to his (Tinubu’s) ouster.

“We must provide the leadership and the unity of purpose that we have talked about, and then I am sure with your leadership, forbearance and diplomatic skills of bringing people together, I am sure we will reach the Promised Land,” El-Rufai said.
Reacting, Atiku Abubakar praised El-Rufai and implored the opposition leaders to remain focused and ensure that Tinubu is dethroned in 2027.
“Anyway, I know you are not the type of person who is scared to confront this situation, the more reason why we should come together to confront this situation to make sure that, one, it doesn’t happen anymore during the remaining part of this administration, and secondly, like you said, we send them out by 2027, not through any other thing else but through the ballot box,” Atiku said.

El-Rufai Needs Help ─ Onanuga
Reacting to El-Rufai’s claim, the Presidency, through its Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said: “President Tinubu is a democrat who does not intend to stay in office beyond May 28, 2031, when re-elected in 2027.”
Onanuga also inferred that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader really needs help, noting that the former Kaduna State Governor has realised the failure after his move with his cohorts in the new party to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027, adding that “This plot is proving to be unattainable, a mission doomed to fail.”

He also claimed the El-Rufai is shocked following handsome support received by the president during his visit to Kaduna State, recently, “This stands in stark contrast to his narrative that the region has abandoned the President.”
In a post on his verified social media handle, Onanuga wrote: “Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai appears to need some help, especially given his recent unfounded claims and speculations about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“It is increasingly evident that El-Rufai has recognised the futility of attempts by his associates in his new party to prevent President Tinubu’s likely re-election in 2027. This plot is proving to be unattainable, a mission doomed to fail.
“After reports of the grand reception President Tinubu received in Kaduna last Friday, El-Rufai was clearly surprised by the depth of support the President continues to enjoy in the North. This stands in stark contrast to his narrative that the region has abandoned the President.
“In response, he resorted to spreading further unfounded stories, including the claim that President Tinubu intends to become a “life president” after 2027—a speculation that is baseless and absurd.
“President Tinubu is a democrat who does not intend to stay in office beyond May 28, 2031, when re-elected in 2027.

“Governor Uba Sani may wish to reach out to his predecessor, as El-Rufai could benefit from some professional counselling to steer him away from his recent hallucinations and political fabrications on Tinubu and 2027,” he wrote.
