  • Gen. Yakubu Gowon Says Two Christian Friends in Plateau Betrayed Him in New Memoir

Former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.), has revealed that two of his Christian friends from Plateau State betrayed him, saying the experience remains one of the painful memories of his life.

Gowon made the revelation in his newly launched memoir, My Life of Duty, unveiled in Abuja during a ceremony attended by prominent national figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former First Lady Aisha Buhari, former Heads of State, senior military officers, diplomats, and other distinguished guests.

In the book, the former Head of State recalled that two of his Christian friends in Plateau State abandoned and betrayed him, noting that the incident left a lasting emotional impact.

According to Gowon, despite the passage of time, he still feels the pain of what he described as their betrayal.

The elder statesman explained that one of the major reasons for writing My Life of Duty was to correct what he described as longstanding misconceptions and inaccurate interpretations about his life, his leadership, and the policies of his administration.

He said the memoir offers his personal account of key events in Nigeria

  • Three Years After Lalong Left Office, Nigerians Reflect on His Legacy

Three years after the administration of former Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong came to an end, residents and political observers have continued to reflect on his eight-year tenure, with discussions centering on his achievements, shortcomings, and overall legacy.

Across social media platforms and public forums, many Nigerians have been asking a common question: "Three years after the Lalong administration ended, what stands out most to you about his time in office?"

The question has generated diverse reactions, with some respondents highlighting infrastructure development, road construction, educational reforms, and efforts to promote peaceful coexistence during his administration.

Others, however, pointed to persistent security challenges, economic concerns, unemployment, and governance issues, arguing that these remain among the defining aspects of Lalong

abuja —

Celebrity weddings are rarely just private celebrations in the hyper-reactive ecosystem of Nigerian entertainment. On the contrary, these events operate as multi-day, star-studded media spectacles scrutinized by millions of eager fans.

Achieving Absolute Digital Dominance

Consequently, the lavish nuptials of Priscilla Ojo to Tanzanian music superstar Juma Jux stood out completely. Fans affectionately dubbed this massive cultural celebration #JP2025 across all major media platforms.

Analyzing the Grand Narrative

The spectacular event stood as a masterclass in luxury, deep cultural fusion, and absolute digital dominance.
Nevertheless, the public conversation did not end when the party stopped. Long after the heavy aso-ebi fabrics were folded away, the internet remained deeply locked in an intense dissection.

Probing Beyond the Extravagance
Analysts and fans continuously scrutinized every single aspect of the event. Interestingly, the catalyst for this ongoing societal debate is not the grandeur of the Eko Atlantic setups.

Exposing the Real Conversation
The public discourse does not focus on the high-society guest list either. Instead, the heated conversation centers squarely on a profound behind-the-scenes decision by the matriarch herself.

Making a Bold Public Appearance

Following a viral appearance on The Morayo Show, Iyabo Ojo explicitly defended her controversial actions. She addressed the visible, highly prominent role of her long-estranged ex-husband, Ademidun Ojo.

Standing Under the Spotlight

Specifically, the actress intentionally ensured that Ademidun stepped directly into the wedding spotlight. He even walked his beautiful daughter, Priscilla, down the aisle during the main ceremony.

Poking a Sensitive Cultural Nerve

By framing her reconciliation through a specific lens, the actress poked a highly sensitive cultural nerve. She openly discussed her desire for intentionally “breaking generational patterns” within African families.

Triggering a Sprawling Debate
Consequently, her bold commentary ignited a sprawling, cross-generational debate across X and Instagram. The conversation closely analyzes modern co-parenting, the trauma of broken homes, and deep familial healing.

Paying the Heavy Price

Furthermore, users discussed the heavy price a mother must pay to insulate her children from historical trauma.

Tracking the Ojo Family Dynamics

One must revisit the public history of the Ojo family dynamic to comprehend this shockwave. For over two decades, the public celebrated Iyabo Ojo as a resilient, self-made Nigerian single mother.

Facing Early Marital Dissolution

She originally married at the tender age of 21. However, her union dissolved rapidly in 2001 shortly after the birth of her daughter.
This sudden collapse left her to raise two young children entirely alone amidst intense financial hardship.

Revealing the Deep Wounds

Over the years, the actress remained incredibly candid about the deep wounds of that grueling era. For instance, she once revealed that she entered labor with absolutely no money.

Building an Entertainment Empire
She survived on the sheer grit required to build a massive entertainment empire from the ground up. Because the public championed her solo journey for twenty years, many expected a different outcome.

Demanding a Total Sideline
Commentators naturally expected her to completely sideline her ex-husband during their daughter’s crowning moment.
Therefore, a massive wave of surprise hit the timeline when Ademidun Ojo emerged in full traditional regalia. He stepped confidently into the flashing lights to dance alongside his famous ex-wife.

Walking Down the Aisle
He then proudly walked his daughter down the aisle before the massive crowd of guests. Predictably, portions of the internet reacted with immediate resistance and intense criticism.

Questioning the Absent Father
Harsh critics loudly questioned why an absent father should harvest the joy of a high-society wedding. They noted that he avoided the grueling daily labor of child-rearing for two decades.

Shifting the Conversation Trajectory
Iyabo Ojo’s brilliant response to the public pushback completely shifted the trajectory of the conversation. She elevated the discourse from standard celebrity gossip into a profound philosophical treatise.

Addressing Psychological Realities

While speaking to host Morayo Afolabi-Brown, the actress bypassed petty industry narratives entirely. Instead, she chose to address a much deeper spiritual and psychological reality.

Prioritizing Emotional Health Over Pride

She clearly explained that she buried her personal ego to protect her daughter’s emotional future. According to her, many broken marriages set up a vicious cycle of trauma for children.

Breaking the Family Curses

She actively refused to let past bitterness dictate the destiny of the next generation. By welcoming her ex-husband, she consciously chose unity over historical conflict. Therefore, she modeled a healthy path forward for millions of single parents watching across Africa.

The Broad Impact of Modern Co-Parenting
Ultimately, Iyabo Ojo has redefined the expectations of African parenting in the modern digital age. Her bold actions prove that forgiveness operates as a powerful tool for structural family growth.

Inspiring New Family Standards

While critics continue to debate her choices, she maintains her focus on her children’s absolute peace. The #JP2025 wedding will remain a historic landmark for its style and its substance.

Driving the Future of Entertainment

It shows that true luxury includes emotional maturity and healing. Thus, the African Giant of Nollywood continues to lead her family with maximum velocity.

Their rare joint appearance stole hearts and quickly became a major talking point across social media, proving their shared commitment to putting their daughter’s happiness first on her special, unforgettable day.

Speaking on the emotional reunion, Iyabo Ojo revealed that she intentionally chose to put aside past grievances to break generational patterns of broken homes and ensure Priscilla had both parents present. She emphasized the importance of personal healing in her own life, stating it was necessary to give her children a complete sense of family support.

Her graceful and mature approach to co-parenting has been widely praised by both fans and industry colleagues alike, serving as a powerful reminder that family and peace can always triumph over past conflicts.
