• Gen. Yakubu Gowon Says Two Christian Friends in Plateau Betrayed Him in New Memoir

Former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.), has revealed that two of his Christian friends from Plateau State betrayed him, saying the experience remains one of the painful memories of his life.

Gowon made the revelation in his newly launched memoir, My Life of Duty, unveiled in Abuja during a ceremony attended by prominent national figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former First Lady Aisha Buhari, former Heads of State, senior military officers, diplomats, and other distinguished guests.

In the book, the former Head of State recalled that two of his Christian friends in Plateau State abandoned and betrayed him, noting that the incident left a lasting emotional impact.

According to Gowon, despite the passage of time, he still feels the pain of what he described as their betrayal.

The elder statesman explained that one of the major reasons for writing My Life of Duty was to correct what he described as longstanding misconceptions and inaccurate interpretations about his life, his leadership, and the policies of his administration.

He said the memoir offers his personal account of key events in Nigeria

  • Three Years After Lalong Left Office, Nigerians Reflect on His Legacy

Three years after the administration of former Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong came to an end, residents and political observers have continued to reflect on his eight-year tenure, with discussions centering on his achievements, shortcomings, and overall legacy.

Across social media platforms and public forums, many Nigerians have been asking a common question: "Three years after the Lalong administration ended, what stands out most to you about his time in office?"

The question has generated diverse reactions, with some respondents highlighting infrastructure development, road construction, educational reforms, and efforts to promote peaceful coexistence during his administration.

Others, however, pointed to persistent security challenges, economic concerns, unemployment, and governance issues, arguing that these remain among the defining aspects of Lalong

IDF Kills Hezbollah’s New Leader, Khalil Yassin

Killed A Few Days After Promoted To Replace Hassan Nasrallah

According to reports, yet again, that the Israel Defence Force’s strike killed newly promoted leader of Hezbollah Terrorist Group, Hassan Khalil Yasin in Dahieh.

On Saturday, the reports of the elimination of the new Hezbollah’s leader broke the internet after a statement from the Group’s intelligent unit confirmed his death.

Hezbollah leader died in an airstrike initiated by IDF in Dahieh district of Beirut, on Saturday.

According to Israel Defence Force (IDF), through a statement by Jerusalem Post, “Yassin stood at the head of a department responsible for the identification of civilian and military targets, on the northern border and deep within Israeli territory.

“As part of his role, Yassin collaborated intensely with all of Hezbollah’s offensive units, was personally involved in the planning of terror attacks that were executed during the war against Israeli civilians and soldiers, and planned additional attacks to be carried out in the coming days.”

In a counter-strike, Lebanon also attacked Israel Territory after the brutal killing of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

In a post on IDF’s verified social media handle, the Israeli Army said: “Sirens sounded in the area of Jerusalem following a launch from Lebanon into Israeli territory.”

The Force was reported to have launched another strike in Beirut which came after the assassination of Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah. It is understandable that the strike came just a day before the death of the Hezbollah leader. IDF Kills Hezbollah’s New Leader, Khalil Yassin

A statement, after the death of Nasrallah, by the IDF reads, “Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorise the world.”

Nasrallah, who was the main target of the IDF, was captured by technology at the Hezbollah’s main headquarters in the southern region of Beirut, one of the Hezbollah main territory known as Dahiyeh on Friday before his death on Saturday.

According to a statement by the IDF, this location is believed to be underground, structured under residential buildings in Dahiyeh.

Reports stated that the Israeli Defence Force strengthened their operation against the Hezbollah Terrorist Group by initiating strategic strikes on various weapon manufacturing facilities in Beirut.

Via a post on X, formerly Twitter, the IDF said: “Following precise intelligence, last night, the IDF intensified its operations against Hezbollah’s force build-up through a series of targeted strikes on key weapon manufacturing sites. IDF Kills Hezbollah’s New Leader, Khalil Yassin

“These included a facility used to produce and assemble missile and rocket launchers in southern Lebanon, as well as another site in the Beqaa Valley.”

“For years, Hezbollah has systematically operated to build up its capabilities and increase its stockpile of weapons. Weapons and components have been smuggled from the east into Lebanon and delivered to manufacturing sites, where a range of weapons are produced—including precision-guided missiles–to be used in attacks against the State of Israel.

“These strikes follow IDF strikes earlier this week on several smuggling routes used to transfer weapons from Syria into Lebanon,” it added.

Meanwhile, recently, the IDF have successfully carried out various strikes in Lebanon which brought about the deaths of several keys members and commanders of the Hezbollah Terrorists Group

In another post via IDF verified handle on 28th September, the force said: “Muhammad Ali Ismail, the Commander of Hezbollah’s Missile Unit in southern Lebanon, and his deputy, Hussein Ahmad Ismail, were eliminated in a precise IAF strike.

“Ali Ismail was responsible for directing numerous terrorist attacks against the State of Israel…

“The strike followed the killing of Ibrahim Muhammad Qabisi, Head of Hezbollah’s Missiles and Rockets Force.

“This follows the elimination of the terrorist Ibrahim Muhammad Qabisi, Head of Hezbollah’s Missiles and Rockets Force, as well as other senior commanders of this unit,” the IDF added.

On the 27th September, a devouring strike was launched on Beirut by IDF which claimed the life of the head of Hezbollah’s Aerial Command, Muhammad Hussein Srour.

Confirming the strike and the killing of the Hezbollah leader, IDF posted on X, “Commander of Hezbollah’s Aerial Command, Muhammad Hussein Srour eliminated in a precise IAF strike in Beirut.

“Srour advanced and directed numerous aerial terrorist attacks aimed at

Israeli civilians. During the “Iron Swords” war, he executed several terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers using UAVs and explosive devices.

“In recent years, Srour led the manufacturing project of UAVs in southern Lebanon and established UAV manufacturing and intelligence gathering sites in Lebanon.

“He was also the commander in the surface-to-air missile unit, commander in the “Aziz” Unit of the Radwan Force and Hezbollah’s emissary to Yemen and the Houthi terrorist regime’s Aerial Command,” added.

The targetted strike claimed two other lives along with the Srour’s which was eventually confirmed by the IDF in its post on X on Friday, 27th September, 2024.

It said, “2 Hezbollah terrorists were eliminated in the precise strike on Muhammad Hussein Srour –Abbas Ibrahim Sharaf Ad-Din: Srour’s deputy, Hussein Hany: senior terrorist from Hezbollah’s missile unit who was close to Fuad Shukr.”

It stressed further, “Additionally, the terrorist Fuad Shafiq Khaz’al Khanafer, a senior operative in Hezbollah’s surface-to-surface missile unit, was eliminated in another IDF strike.”

It can be recalled that on the 24th September, three days before this period, an airstrike launched by Israel in Beirut also killed a Commander of Hezbollah’s Missiles and Rockets Force, Muhammad Qabisi.

Continuing and concluding, the Israeli Defence Force posted on X again confirming the death of Qabisi following a airstrike, “Ibrahim Muhammad Qabisi, the Commander of Hezbollah’s Missiles and Rockets Force, was eliminated by an IAF airstrike in Beirut.

“Qabisi commanded several missile units within the Hezbollah, including the Precision Guided Missile Unit… He also served as a significant source of knowledge in the field of missiles and had close ties to senior military leaders in Hezbollah…,” it concluded.
