The Federal Government of Nigeria To improve power generation as it targets 6,000 Megawatts of power generation before 2025.
To renew the hope of all Nigerians, the Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu has targeted the production of 6,000 megawatts of power before next year.
As revealed by the honourable Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, the federal government is working to improve the megawatts of power generation within the country.
This disclosure was made on Tuesday, 13th August 2024 in Calabar when an inspection visit was paid to the Calabar Power Plant of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC)
He stated that the administration is working tirelessly to improve power output and ensure that power is made available to all Nigerians irrespective of their states and localities.

An Overview of Major Maintenance Carried Out on Various Power-Generating Plants to Boost Power Generation and Supply
In his statement, the Minster for Power and Steel said that there currently are five turbines and each of them carries 125 megawatts which has three of them currently producing power for two geopolitical zone (Southeast and South South) in the country.
“Two are undergoing turnaround maintenance, which means that it is possible to generate over 500 megawatts from the Calabar power plant alone,” he said.
Chief Adelabu also commended the Federal Government on its stride to implement various developmental and ameliorating reforms of the power sector which he described as an effort to stabilise and improve power generation and supply in the country.
He praised the federal government’s readiness to rise to and meet any unforeseen high energy demands as he charged and implore the stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to be up and doing.
Importance of Improved and Adequate Power Generation to the Government, the Citizenry and the National Economy
He said: “The power sector is very critical to both the government and national economy. This is why the president has asked me to visit all the power plants in the country and assess their functionality.
“It is not going to be business as usual. Players in the power sector must be up and about as the federal government is reforming the sector for optimal power generation and distribution in order to meet the huge demands of Nigerians.
“From my assessment, the Calabar Power Plant of Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, is the most active. I’m very satisfied. We’re encouraging power installation and generations.” FG T0 Improve Power Generation.
Proposed Bid to Privatise The Cross River State Power Plant
He stressed that the proposed privatisation of the Cross River State plant is now a matter set before the Federal Government Privatisation Council and Federal Executive Council for consideration.
Prince Williams, the Cross River’s Commissioner for Power and Energy, said that the state government is prepared and able to efficiently run the industry, due to the experience and skills of the personnel available within the industry.
As disclosed by the Managing Director of the firm, Mr. Chinedu Ugbo, the power is generated and supplied to most parts of South East and South-South zones in the country by them.
He stressed further by fuelling the clamour for more sub-transmission to supply power to more places.

Meeting between present and former heads of government in Nigeria was held yesterday, Tuesday, 13th August, 2024. The occasion was graced by notable Nigerians.

Addressing The Media After The Four-Hour Long Council Meeting
In a media brief to the State House Correspondent following the four-hour meeting at the Council Chamber of the State House, Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Mineral Development, stated that the council had passed a vote of confidence on the current Administration.
Mr Dele Alake made this known after the Council meeting which witnessed the physical presences of his predecessors.
Former Presidents of the federation, Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan, also in virtual attendances are the former Heads of States, Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalam Abubakar.
He further disclosed presentations on blueprints, prospects and uphill, and emphasizing the need for diversification of Nigerian economy.
The National Security Adviser to the President, Nuhu Ribadu also had a brief session during the meeting to peruse through just concluded ten-day nationwide #EndbadGovernance protest as well as giving updates on the current security situation within the country.
Also in attendance are Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Minister of Finance, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Minister of Trade and Investment, Minister of Agriculture amongst others, were all invited to make individual presentations to the council”.
Chief Alake added that various issues militating against the progress of the nation, and therefore progress and achievements made thus far in every sector of the economy were discussed during the meeting.
“Matters of state were discussed in a robust manner, National security Adviser was also on hand to brief on the security situation of the country, he also briefed the council of state on Pre, during and post efforts made to contain the protest.”
He stated that the just concluded protest was an insurrection and a move to hijack power from the present administration through forceful and unconstitutional means.
“The Council commended Nigeria for resisting unconstitutional change of government, any change of government should be through the ballot not through barrel of guns.”
Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) Expression of Satisfaction
Representing, as the chairman, Nigeria Governors’ forum, the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, said that all the thirty-six states governors have collectively passed vote of confidence on President Bola Tinubu-led administration, expressing their satisfaction with his policies and activities since coming to power.
He stressed a series of productive discussions has been held during the Council meeting following a thumb-up reaction from various players and attendees that this administration is on course for greater things.
“The NGF members unanimously passed vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, members of the NGF were satisfied by presentation made by members of the Executive cabinet.

“Frank and fruitful discussions were held and the Council concluded that the Nigerian government is on the right track,” he concluded.
