Afenifere To Tinubu: You have failed us as they accuse the president of using propaganda
Amid economic struggle and hardship faced by Nigerians, President Tinubu has been dragged again by own kinsmen.
Yesterday, a section of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation (Afenifere) berated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming that the Presidentβs Renewed Hope Agenda has become a horror for Nigerians since he came to powerβtwo years ago.
In the mid-term report, aired by the groupβs Leader and National Publicity Secretary, Oba Oladipo Olaitan and Justice Faloye, slammed the Tinubuβs government for adopting βmassive propaganda claiming false successes.β
The body also noted that there had been βtitanic crashβ in local productions, βoverwhelming riseβ in public debt, βterrifying increaseβ, increase in criminal and insurgent activities, and in poverty under his nose.
The group also accuses Tinubu of running an βunabashedly profligateβ government for the rich, privileged and connected.
The faction of socio-political group also alleged that Tinubuβs administration is destroying democratic federalism, inching the country towards s one-party state.
Afenifere To Tinubu: You Have Failed Us
According to the statement issued by the group, in their Midterm Report mirrors that human development and socio-political index has declined since coming to power of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, turning the promise of renewed hope to a nightmare of regressing hopelessness and despair.
βRather than take full responsibility for the unmitigated sufferings inflicted on Nigerians in the past two years on account of its wrong policy choices and wasteful spending, the Tinubu administration has engaged in massive propaganda claiming false successes and shifting blames to global and historical factors, and showing scant empathy for ordinary Nigerians, said Afenifere.

βBasically, due to unforced errors, especially the oversight of the production element of subsidies and floating the Naira, without any preparation to cushion the predictable impact, the Tinubu Economic Reforms has turned out to be Tinubu Economic Deforms.
βTwo years into its tenure, and contrary to its well-advertised electoral promise, the Tinubu administration is yet to implement Oronsaye Report to cut cost of governance, instead the costs have ballooned with new cost centers for cronies to milk.
βThe tone of government at all levels is one of profligate βjaiye jaiyeβ lifestyle, while the masses are being berated about Nigeriaβs wasteful past and the imperative of sacrifice to restore fiscal integrity.
βThe governmentβs first supplementary budget and subsequent budgets were spent on not only preserving but increasing the luxurious lifestyle of those in governmentβnew Presidential jet, Cadillac limousines, N160 million cars for each federal legislator and scandalous increase in unaccounted constituency projects worth billions to each legislator.β
The Yoruba pan-group also stated that Tinubuβs thirst for power has also made him sacrifice lives of Nigerians by declining to assent to devolve power for state police.
Afenifere To Tinubu: You Have Failed Us
βThe Tinubu administration is destructuring instead of restructuring the military imposed constitution, towards true federalism.
βIt has shown increasingly centralizing tendencies to further weaken the federalist elements in the constitution by attacking federating units with the takeover of their administrative units, known as local governments.
βTinubu is destructuring the pillars of our democracy by neutralizing the legislature and judiciary put in place for balance of power and robust representative governance.

βIt is obvious that the agenda is a one party state totalitarianism.
Afenifere To Tinubu: You Have Failed Us
βIn the last two years, we have witnessed a markedly increase in intolerance of protests by dissenting civic groups. Peaceful protesters, students and labour groups are hounded, destabilized and bullied.
βIn recent times, we have seen a gale of opposition politicians decamp to the ruling party to prevent institutional victimization.
βEven government sponsorship of internal conflicts in opposition parties and sociopolitical groups are in open. Some recent appointments to Independent National Electoral Commission are speculated to be card-carrying members of the ruling party.
βThe emasculation of liberal democratic values are flagrantly displayed, without any shame or restraint.
βIt has been a harrowing experience living through the pain and anguish of the last two years, inflicted on the nation by the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Afenifere To Tinubu: You Have Failed Us
βThis Midterm Report is a duty that Afenifere must fulfil to prevent government propagandists from drowning the voices of millions of hungry and deprived Nigerians.
βRather than focusing on service delivery, the Tinubu administration is focusing on winning the 2027 election regardless of the voters.
βNo amount of propaganda will erase hunger and poverty in the land,β it added.
In conclusion, the body implored the president to focus on positive change for the love of the people of Nigeria and country.
Reactions have materialized from various sections and walks of the country has many appear to back the Yoruba Pan Socio-Political Group by commending them on not compromising and calling out their own when it appears that things are not fine, while others say the president should be given more time to turn things around as he inherited dead economy from his predecessor.
Since the All Progressives Congress (APC) took over power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, Nigeriaβs economy has been suffering setbacks and regression, which has made many Nigerians voice their concerns and distaste at the APC administration.
Afenifere To Tinubu: You Have Failed Us
Ahead of 2027 general elections, all political parties in Nigeria are preparing and some are busy forming alliance to wrestle power from the incumbent president, Bola Tinubu, but it remains to be seen where it all ends, come 2027.
Let us keep hoping for a better Nigeria, through good governance.
