• 🇺🇸🇳🇬 US TO WITHDRAW ABOUT 200 TROOPS FROM NIGERIA BY SEPTEMBER The United States is preparing to withdraw about 200 military personnel from Nigeria by late September, according to reports citing US military officials. Smaller teams of American trainers and intelligence personnel are expected to remain in Nigeria as Washington continues its security partnership with the country. The US deployment, which began earlier this year, focused on intelligence, surveillance, training and counterterrorism support. US Africa Command Commander, Gen. Dagvin Anderson, said many American troops had already been withdrawn following a May operation in the Lake Chad Basin that killed Abu Bilal al-Minuki, described by US officials as a senior Islamic State leader. Anderson said the operation significantly weakened ISIS leadership and stressed that intelligence cooperation with Nigeria would continue. The Pentagon has described the deployment as a model for supporting African partners through a limited military footprint rather than a large permanent presence. The planned withdrawal therefore does not mean an end to US-Nigeria security cooperation, as Washington is expected to maintain intelligence and training support. #USNigeria #Nigeria #USMilitary #Security #CounterTerrorism #LakeChad #AFRICOM #Terrorism #NigeriaNews #BreakingNews #Morganable
  • Bangladesh is considering joining the Mecca Pact, a defence agreement involving Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan. The move could reshape Dhaka’s foreign relations, particularly with neighbouring India, as Bangladesh seeks to strengthen its security ties with key Muslim-majority countries. However, Bangladesh has not made a final decision on joining the pact.
  • Catastrophic flash flood has swept through communities along the Nepal-Tibet border, killing dozens of people and leaving hundreds missing. The disaster struck after a massive ice-and-rock avalanche from a glacier collapsed into the Lhende River in Nepal’s Rasuwa district, triggering a powerful surge of water and debris downstream. A magnitude 4.4 earthquake was recorded in the region shortly before the flood, raising questions over whether the tremor contributed to the glacier collapse. However, authorities say investigations are still ongoing and the exact trigger has not been conclusively established. The flood destroyed homes, roads, bridges and other infrastructure, while several hydropower projects were also affected. Rescue operations are underway in both Nepal and Tibet, but damaged roads and difficult mountainous terrain are hampering efforts to reach affected communities. Authorities are continuing to search for missing people and assess the scale of the destruction.

  • Naja’atu Muhammad Denies Sending Delegation to Apologise to Pantami
Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad has denied reports that she sent a delegation to Gombe State to apologize to former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, over remarks she previously made about him. The reports had suggested that Naja’atu Muhammad had taken steps to reconcile with the former minister by sending representatives to Gombe to convey an apology over comments she had earlier made concerning Pantami. However, she has rejected the claim, describing the report as inaccurate and stressing that she did not authorized any delegation to visit Professor Pantami for such a purpose. The development comes amid continued public interest in the previous remarks attributed to Naja’atu Muhammad and their implications, particularly given Professor Pantami’s prominent position in Nigeria’s political and public affairs. Naja’atu’s denial therefore seeks to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged meeting and to distance herself from reports suggesting that she had initiated an apology through intermediaries. She maintained that members of the public should not rely on unverified reports concerning the matter, urging them to distinguish between confirmed information and claims circulating through informal channels. Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, remains a prominent figure in Nigeria’s public discourse, particularly on issues relating to technology, digital transformation, governance and national development.
The alleged delegation to Gombe had generated attention because of the personalities involved and the suggestion that it represented an attempt to resolve differences arising from Naja’atu Muhammad’s earlier comments. With her latest clarification, however, Naja’atu has disputed the account that she sought to apologize to the former minister through representatives. The controversy underscores the importance of verifying reports involving prominent public figures before they are circulated, particularly where claims of apologies, reconciliations or political engagements are concerned.

The financial support is intended to contribute to the development of the university project at the JIBWIS National Headquarters in Jos, which the organisation has identified as part of its efforts to expand educational opportunities. The presentation formed part of the activities surrounding the national meeting, which brought together JIBWIS leadership, scholars, political figures and other stakeholders. The donation also highlights the growing engagement between political actors and religious organisations in supporting educational and community-development initiatives. Fortune University, being developed under the auspices of JIBWIS, is expected to become an important educational institution in Jos upon completion. #Jibwis #Sheikhjingir #Izala #Jibwisnationalheadquarters

abuja —

Nigeria’s social media space has seen its fair share of dramatic showdowns, but the latest feud between controversial internet critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and the Nigerian Presidency has taken things to an entirely new level. At the center of this high-profile battle is a viral, allegedly artificial intelligence (AI)-generated audio clip featuring the voice of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The situation has quickly escalated from a standard internet debate into a serious national conversation about fake news, deepfake technology, political manipulation, and the law. This clash highlights the growing tension between free speech on social media and the government’s responsibility to protect the integrity of public information.

To understand how we got here, we have to look closely at the video that started it all. VeryDarkMan, known for his aggressive, unfiltered commentary on everything from celebrity scandals to consumer rights, uploaded a video addressing a leaked audio recording. In this audio clip, a voice that sounds exactly like President Tinubu is heard discussing highly sensitive national topics, specifically the ongoing challenges with countrywide insecurity and strategic political plans regarding the 2027 general elections. The voice in the clip explicitly implies that the current administration is struggling, leading the speaker to urge Nigerians to reconsider supporting the president’s re-election bid.

VDM’s Aggressive Stance: Exposing the “Fake”
Instead of accepting the audio as a genuine leak from the state house, VeryDarkMan took a completely different approach. He used his massive platform to aggressively slam the recording as an absolute fake. He argued that the audio was completely artificial a highly sophisticated digital forgery created using modern AI voice-cloning software to intentionally mislead the public.

In his characteristic energetic and confrontational style, VDM warned his millions of followers not to fall for what he labeled a dangerous piece of propaganda. He argued that the clip was defamatory, designed specifically to cause political instability, damage the reputation of the president, and manipulate public emotion ahead of the next election cycle. For VDM, speaking out was a matter of national security and digital truth. He wanted to show that even as a fierce critic of many social systems, he would not stand by and watch fake media be used to destabilize the country’s political landscape.

However, while VDM’s intent might have been to expose a lie, his method of doing so created a massive problem. In the process of breaking down and analyzing the audio file for his audience, he played the controversial clip repeatedly. To the presidency, this act did not look like an expose. Instead, it looked like he was helping a dangerous piece of fake news travel even further across the internet.

The Presidency Strikes Back: A Threat of Legal Action
The reaction from the Presidential Villa was swift and uncompromising. Senior government officials, including Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, openly condemned the development. The presidency stated that the audio was indeed a complete fabrication, an AI-generated tool designed by mischievous actors to spread falsehoods and stir up unnecessary tension across Nigeria.

However, instead of praising VeryDarkMan for pointing out that the clip was fake, the presidency turned its radar directly onto the influencer himself. Presidential aides publicly called for law enforcement agencies to take strict legal action against VDM. The government’s argument is straightforward: by broadcasting, discussing, and circulating a defamatory audio clip to millions of viewers even under the guise of debunking it VDM actively participated in the distribution of malicious, unverified content.

From the government’s perspective, social media influencers hold a massive amount of power over public opinion. When an influencer shares a piece of fake news, many viewers only notice the shocking content itself, not the disclaimer surrounding it. The presidency’s aggressive pushback serves as a clear warning to content creators nationwide: the government will no longer tolerate the casual sharing of unverified, sensitive material that could threaten national peace.

The AI Dilemma: A New Era of Misinformation
This high-profile feud brings a terrifying technical reality to the forefront of Nigerian public life: the rise of deepfakes and AI voice cloning. Just a few years ago, creating a convincing fake video or audio recording of a global leader required expensive Hollywood-grade software and immense technical skill. Today, anyone with a basic smartphone, an internet connection, and access to affordable AI platforms can generate a nearly flawless replica of a public figure’s voice within minutes.

This technological leap presents an unprecedented challenge for a country like Nigeria, where social media platforms like X, TikTok, and WhatsApp serve as primary news sources for millions of citizens. When an audio clip sounds perfectly authentic, the average citizen has no way of verifying whether the words were actually spoken by the president or manufactured by a computer program. As we edge closer to future election cycles, the potential for AI to be used as a political weapon to manipulate voters, destroy reputations, and cause civil unrest is incredibly high.

The Fine Line Between Accountability and Censorship
The standoff between VDM and the presidential aides has deeply divided the Nigerian public. On one hand, many citizens support the government’s position, agreeing that unregulated fake news poses a massive danger to society. They believe that internet personalities must face consequences if they amplify defamatory content, regardless of their stated motives.

On the other hand, free speech advocates and fans of the influencer view the presidency’s reaction as an overreach. They argue that VDM was actually doing public service by educating his audience on how easily media can be manipulated by AI. Critics of the administration worry that using law enforcement to target an influencer who explicitly labeled the audio as a fake could create a chilling effect, making everyday citizens too afraid to discuss political matters online for fear of arrest.

Ultimately, the battle between VeryDarkMan and the presidency is about much more than a single viral video. It is a landmark moment that will help define how Nigeria handles the terrifying intersection of artificial intelligence, social media influence, and political communication. As technology continues to evolve faster than the legal system, finding a balance between protecting public figures from digital defamation and protecting the digital rights of citizens will be one of the defining challenges of our modern era.

To better understand the scale of this digital clash and hear the arguments surrounding the controversial audio, you can watch this analysis on the Tinubu AI Voice & VDM Video Chaos. This broadcast details how the presidency responded to the influencer’s video and breaks down the serious legal implications of circulating AI-generated political media in Nigeria.
