U.S Election: Trump’s Second Assassination Attempt Update

Trump Safe, Hale and Hearty

U.S polity heated up as former president and Republican nominee Donald Trump escaped second assassination attempt.

Routh, suspect of the assassination attempt, has been charged with gun crimes and in custody. Reports have indicated so far that Donald Trump, whose life was attempted on, is fine and sustained no injury during the incident.

SHORTAGE OF PERSONNEL AND OVERUSE OF PERSONNEL

Director Secret Service, Ronald Rowe Jr. says that the agency is short of personnel and there is need for adequate funding to recruit more personnel.

“The men and women of the Secret Service now, we are redlining them. And they are rising to this moment, and they are meeting the challenges right now,” he said.

No Shots Were Fired, Says Secret Service

The United States Secret Service has disclosed that did fire shots at neither Donald Trump nor any of its officers who shot at him.

“The subject, who did not have line of sight to the former president, fled the scene. He did not fire or get off any shots at our agent,” Ronald Rowe Jr. briefed reporters.

THE SUSPECT HAS BEEN ON FBI WANTED LIST SINCE 2019

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has revealed that the suspect in the assassination attempt has been on their wanted list since 2019 after being suspected to be in possession of firearms.

“It was alleged he was a felon in possession of a firearm,” said, Special Agent Jeffrey Veltri.

“Following up on the tip, the alleged complainant was interviewed and did not verify, I repeat, did not verify, providing the initial information. The FBI passed that information to local law enforcement in Honolulu,” he added.

THE SECURITY AT MAR–A–LAGO, ‘IS AT THE MAXIMUM IT CAN EVER BE.’

Ric Bradshaw, a Sheriff at Palm Beach, has reassured that security measures are being taken to secure Trump’s life and guarantee his safety following second alleged assassination attempt on his life.

He said, “The security level at Mar-a-Lago is the highest it can possibly be now.” Noting that road closures and checkpoints have been put in place near Trump’s residence, and that the Secret Service will receive all the resources it needs.

It can be recalled the first assassination attempt was made two months ago, while the former president and Republican nominee was on state, during a campaign rally.

On Sunday, the second attempt was made which objective is still unknown, but on Monday, a day after the second attempt, Trump’s response was clear enough to understand. After the United States Secret Service opened fire on the suspect at Trump’s Golf Resort in Florida.

After a few moments, the former president was understood to have uttered a blunt remark, vowing the he will never surrender! A vow many believed to have resulted from his first attack in Pennsylvania, when the bullet shot at him could only pierce his right ear, and triggered him to pump his fist in the air, chanting “fight, fight, fight’ to encourage his supporters.

It is understood that official from US justice Department, viz: the FBI, the US Secret Service, and the Palm Beach County Sherriff, will be brought together to update the general public on the ongoing investigation on the Trump’s second assassination attempt.

A close source to Donald Trump has revealed that the former president is not willing to reschedule his plans, noting that his campaign schedule remains intact despite perceived threat to his life.

He further disclosed that Trump is planning to host a town hall in Michigan on Tuesday, 17th September, 2024, accompanied, on Wednesday, by a rally in New York, and launching of a cryptocurrency outlet on Monday evening.

The United States Secret Service has reacted to Billionaire X CEO Elon Musk after he joked that “no one is even trying to assassinate Biden or Kamara.”

Elon Musk, who is known to be one of the prominent supporters of Donald Trump, will not cease to render his backing for the Republican nominee after it appeared that he pledged billions of US dollars to aid his reelection bid.

According to a spokesperson, “The Secret Service is aware of the social media post made by Elon Musk and as a matter of practice, we do not comment on matters involving protective intelligence.

“We can say, however, that the Secret Service investigates all threats related to our protectees,” he added.

Assassination Attempt Might Not Fetch Trump Sympathy He Craves, says Political Strategist, Rina Shah.

During an interview on television, she said, “I don’t think we’ll see a sympathy boost in the polls this time, because what we’re seeing right now is a very unique shooter.”

“This person was a lone wolf with a rifle, and a white male.”

She highlighted that Routh’s (suspect) philosophic political drive may diminish chances of the incident forming a political line of offense by Trump.

“This person was pro-Ukraine, yet he did vote for Trump in the past,” Shah said.

“He even expressed support for [former Republican presidential candidate] Nikki Haley, who could have been the Republicans’ nominee this year.”

Anthony Cangelosi, former Secret service agent, has suggested that the former president and Republican nominee, Donald trump, needs additional protection service.

“They could have been utilised to secure the perimeter,” he said of the assassination attempt on Sunday.

“He’s not your typical former president,” he added of Trump, noting that he is both a former president and a nominee hoping to return to the White House.

Shah, furthered by highlighting the sudden violence and extremism ‘introduced into US politics. Indicating that Trump might just dive in privilege and project himself as a victim following assassination attempt made on his life.                        U.S Election: Trump’s Second Assassination Attempt Update

“Are we going to see more of these [assassination efforts]? My guess is yes,” she told Al Jazeera in an interview.

“What we have entered now, and we have been in for some time, is this territory where political violence and extremism is baked into our political and public spheres.”

THE UNITED STATE PRESIDENT HAS THROWN WEIGHT BEHIND THE SECRET SERVICE, VOWS TO REVISIT AND SETTLE HIS POLITICAL DIFFERENCES AMICABLY

At the National HBCU Week Conference in Philadelphia, Biden praised the Secret Service for their effort and proactivity for handling the situation in a professional manner after facing various criticisms.

“[There is] No place for political violence in America. None. Zero. Never,” Biden said.

“In America, we resolve our differences peacefully at the ballot box, not at the end of a gun.

“America has suffered too many times the tragedy of an assassin’s bullet. It solves nothing and just tears the country apart. We must do everything we can to prevent it, and not give it any oxygen,” he added.

Investigation Will Commence Soon – Florida Governor

Ron DeSantis, Florida Governor, who instigated a failed attack on Trump during the Republican Party’s presidential primary, has assured that the state will soon look into the incident by conducting its own investigation.

“I understand that the feds [federal law enforcement] are involved but we do believe that there were multiple violations of state law.

“We also believe that there’s a need to make sure that the truth about all this comes out in a way, you know, that’s credible,” DeSantis stated in a news conference.

Musk Is Irresponsible For His Tweet – White House

The White House has reacted to a deleted post tweeted on X by right-wing X billionaire CEO, Elon Musk when he jeered that “no one is even trying to assassinate Biden or Kamara.”

Speaking through Andrew Bates, White House Spokesperson, “Violence should only be condemned, never encouraged or joked about.”

“This rhetoric is irresponsible.”        U.S Election: Trump’s Second Assassination Attempt Update

THE REACTION SAW MUSK DELETE THE POST FOLLOWING A BACKLASH

A few moments later, in another social media post, Musk said that “incitement to hatred and violence against President Trump by the media and leading Democrats needs to stop.”

Research And Mobile Records Indicated That The Suspect Had Been Around The Golf Course For Twelve Hours.

Mobile phone of the suspects revealed that had stayed around the golf course for twelve hours before being questioned by a Secret Service agent. The record revealed that the suspect had stayed there since 1:59am until 1:31pm on Sunday.                    U.S Election: Trump’s Second Assassination Attempt Update

Routh was shot at by a Secret Service agent after spotting him with a gun, but he escaped and fled in through an SUV before he was eventually apprehended by a local law enforcement in a neighbouring country.

SECOND ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT: TRUMP BLAMES BIDEN AND HARRIS

Donald Trump has lashed out blames on the US President Joe Biden and his Vice, Kamara Harris following his second failed assassination attempt which Trump said that their “rhetoric” about his personality is affecting the country’s democracy.

Trump, who was quick to politicise the Sunday incident, envisaged that the polity before the November election will continue to be heated up.

Trump, who appeared not hurt nor harmed after the incident rhetoric from the democrats “is causing me to be shot at when I am the one who is going to save the country.”

In his regular comment on the incident, 78-year-old Trump says, “democracy is threatened in the country.”

However, Routh is rumoured to bag more than 15 years in prison on first charge, 5 might be on the second.

As it was reported earlier that Routh is also in line to face Federal charges of being in possession of illegal firearms after being a prisoner. If found guilty, Routh faces up to 15 years imprisonment on the first charge, and 5 years on the second.

A hearing has been scheduled to for 24th September, with an arraignment set for 30th September, 2024.
