JOS, Nigeria — The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachamo, has alleged that members of the Boko Haram insurgent group have occupied strategic positions within the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The cleric made the remarks in a video circulated on his social media page, where he discussed the security situation in Nigeria and the recurring violence in parts of the country.

According to Rev. Dachamo, the alleged infiltration of the military was the reason United States military personnel were withdrawn from Nigeria after, he claimed, they received security reports from troops deployed to assess the security situation.

He further alleged that the U.S. personnel had been sent in connection with concerns over what he described as the killing of Christian communities in parts of the country.

Rev. Dachamo did not provide evidence to substantiate his claims during the video.

Student Commits Suicide, Man Kills Wife in Lagos, a 20 year old Polytechnic student has committed suicide in Ondo State, as young people grapple with cost of living and psychosocial issues.

Kano—A student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, along Awolowo Road in Emure-Ile, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Audi Emmanuel, body has been discovered hanging in his room located on the campus of the institution

The 20-year-old computer engineering student was found lifeless.The reason for his death was still unknown at the time of filing this report.


In a video sighted on the Facebook page of one Alani Mi on Tuesday, the student’s swollen body was seen hanging. Some men were also seen in the video covering their noses, indicating that the deceased may have taken his life some time before discovery.


The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirming the incident said an investigation had begun to ascertain the cause.

“The Ondo State Police Command confirms the report of a suspected suicide incident at Emure-Ile involving a 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, who was found dead in his residence” Jimoh said


“Police operatives promptly visited the scene, where the body was recovered and deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy” he added


“Preliminary observations suggest a case of suicide; however, a thorough investigation is ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”he concluded


While commiserating with the family of the deceased, the Command urged members of the public to seek support and speak up during moments of emotional distress, as help is always available.

Man kills wife in Lagos
A 41-year-old man, Uchenna Aghoha, allegedly punched his wife, Esther, to death during a domestic conflict in the Satellite Town area of Lagos State.


Reports revealed that the deceased had been subjected to domestic violence in the marriage before the day  the tragic incident happened.


The altercation that ensued on the day of the incident was said to have started with an argument that later degenerated into a fight.


An anonymous source who spoke to Punch Newspaper explained how Aghoha threw punches at Esther leading to her death.

“We are aware that she had been a victim of abuse in the marriage, but the altercation that happened on Friday morning appeared to be one of their regular fights” he said.


“It was later that the daughter ran out of their home and raised the alarm that her mother had collapsed after being punched by her father. We rushed there and discovered that she was motionless,” the source narrated


A police source, who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity as he was not permitted to discuss the incident, said the couple’s daughter reported the case at the police station.

The source added that the victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead.


“The couple’s 14-year-old daughter reported to the police in the afternoon and narrated what happened. Our men were deployed to the scene of the incident and discovered that the victim had been rushed to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital Ojo, where the doctor on duty confirmed she was brought in dead,” the source disclosed.

“The couple’s 14-year-old daughter reported to the police in the afternoon and narrated what happened. Our men were deployed to the scene of the incident and discovered that the victim had been rushed to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital Ojo, where the doctor on duty confirmed she was brought in dead,” the source disclosed


The police source added that operatives who visited the scene also took photographs of the deceased.

The Lagos  State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident to journalists on Tuesday.


“The suspect has since been arrested and is currently in police custody. The body was subsequently deposited at the General Hospital, Yaba Morgue, for autopsy. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigation” she said


Domestic violence cases have continued to raise concern among stakeholders in Nigeria, with reports of spousal abuse and fatalities surfacing across different states. Experts have repeatedly called for stronger enforcement of laws protecting victims and increased awareness to curb the trend.


In February 2025,the police arrested a 23-year-old man, Gbolahan Adebayo, for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death at Ijedodo in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The incident was said to have occurred during the deceased’s visit to the suspect’s house.

A  67-year-old man, Chief Augustine Nwalieze, was killed by his gateman under yet-to-be-ascertained circumstances.


The deceased, said to be a manager with Okeyson Transport, was reportedly attacked in his Ajah residence on Saturday morning shortly after preparing to go out.A family member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the incident has left the family devastated.


“I have been very heartbroken since yesterday. Something very bad happened to my father-in-law on Saturday,” the source said.

Recounting the incident, he explained that the deceased had come downstairs to the car park area of his residence, where spare parts from his vehicles and a solar panel were kept.“My father-in-law’s gateman, Abdullahi Dairu, killed him on Saturday.

He had prepared for outing, when the incident happened. He walked downstairs to the car park, close to the store where spare parts from his cars are kept and a solar panel was stored


According to him, the family became worried after noticing that none of the deceased’s vehicles had been moved, and all attempts to reach him on the phone proved abortive.


“Nobody could really tell what happened. They didn’t hear the sound of any car driving off or the gate opening. His three cars were still parked, so, they became worried about his whereabouts. They called his phone, but he didn’t pick up,” he added.

Suspicion reportedly fell on Abdullahi Dairu, the gateman, when he gave conflicting accounts of the victim’s whereabouts.“They went to Abdullahi Dairu, and he mentioned one of his friends, claiming he went out with him. But when the wife called that same friend, he said he hadn’t seen him that day,” the source said.


Abdullahi Dairu was said to have fled shortly after giving the information, raising further suspicion.


“By the time they returned to question him again, he had disappeared. That was when they began to search the compound thoroughly,” he


They found his lifeless body in one of the flats downstairs. He had machete cuts on his head, hands, and body. It was a terrible sight,” the source disclosed
