• Rev. Ezekiel Dachamo Alleges Boko Haram Infiltrated Nigerian Military, Links Claim to U.S. Troop Withdrawal

JOS, Nigeria — The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachamo, has alleged that members of the Boko Haram insurgent group have occupied strategic positions within the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The cleric made the remarks in a video circulated on his social media page, where he discussed the security situation in Nigeria and the recurring violence in parts of the country.

According to Rev. Dachamo, the alleged infiltration of the military was the reason United States military personnel were withdrawn from Nigeria after, he claimed, they received security reports from troops deployed to assess the security situation.

He further alleged that the U.S. personnel had been sent in connection with concerns over what he described as the killing of Christian communities in parts of the country.

Rev. Dachamo did not provide evidence to substantiate his claims during the video.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Federal Government of Nigeria, and the United States Government had not publicly confirmed Rev. Dachamo

  • Nigel Farage’s Resignation : Political Money, Broken Rules and the Africa Diaspora Question

Nigel Farage’s resignation as MP for Clacton has turned a parliamentary standards controversy into a wider test of political money, democratic accountability and migration politics. With major parties refusing to contest the by-election, the episode raises urgent questions about whether electoral theatre can be used to weaken parliamentary scrutiny — and what that means for African diasporas in Britain, Ireland and at home....

  • Teaching Al-Musannaf Requires Rare Scholarly Expertise Beyond the Reach of Many Nigerian Scholars

Renowned Islamic scholar and founder of Darul Hadith Salafiyya, Zaria, Sheikh Muhammad Auwal Adam (Albani Zaria), has stated that teaching Kitabul Al-Musannaf requires an exceptional level of scholarly competence that, according to him, many Nigerian Islamic scholars do not possess.

The late cleric made the remarks during one of his Sahih al-Bukhari lectures in 2013, while discussing contemporary religious issues and the qualifications required to teach classical Islamic texts.

According to Sheikh Albani, Al-Musannaf is among the most comprehensive works in Islamic scholarship and demands mastery of several disciplines before a scholar can competently teach its contents.

"Teaching Kitabul Al-Musannaf requires rare scholarly expertise beyond what many Nigerian scholars possess," he said.

He explained that a scholar seeking to teach the book must possess extensive knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), Hadith sciences (Mustalah al-Hadith), Islamic history (Tarikh), principles of narration, and other related Islamic sciences.

Albani argued that beyond academic qualifications, teaching the text requires years of specialization, extensive research, and a deep understanding of the differences among classical scholars and schools of thought.

According to him, many scholars lack the time, specialization, and depth of knowledge necessary to undertake such a demanding scholarly responsibility.

The respected scholar maintained that teaching advanced Islamic texts without the required expertise could lead to misunderstanding, inaccurate interpretations, and confusion among students of knowledge.

abuja —

For decades, the standard blueprint for a premium Nigerian vacation involved an international flight ticket. Whether it was the high-rise luxury of Dubai, the historic charm of London, or the tropical allure of Zanzibar, the affluent and middle-class traveler consistently looked outward. However, economic shifts, soaring ticket prices, and volatile foreign exchange rates have fundamentally rewritten the travel playbook.

Nigeria’s Ultimate Luxury Escape

Today, a quiet but powerful revolution is taking place within Nigeria’s borders. Discerning travelers, couples, and solo adventurers are no longer willing to endure the financial and logistical headaches of international travel. Instead, they are looking inward, sparking a massive domestic renaissance. At the forefront of this movement is the spectacular revival of two of Nigeria’s most iconic heritage destinations: La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Lagos and the majestic Obudu Mountain Resort in Cross River State. Once viewed as nostalgic relics of the past, these premium escapes have re-emerged as the ultimate symbols of localized luxury.

The Economic Catalyst: Beyond the Forex Headache
The surge in domestic tourism is undeniably tied to the current economic climate, but the narrative has evolved from one of compromise to one of conscious choice. When the cost of a flight ticket across the Atlantic can fund an entire week of five-star luxury at home, the decision becomes simple arithmetic. Yet, what began as a pragmatic alternative to foreign exchange pressures has transformed into a genuine appreciation for West African hospitality.

Nigeria’s Ultimate Luxury Escape

Travelers are discovering that stepping away from the chaos of modern life does not require a passport. By eliminating visa stress, long airport queues, and currency conversions, domestic luxury resorts offer something foreign destinations rarely can: an immediate, frictionless transition into relaxation. You can wake up to the frantic energy of an urban center and, by afternoon, find yourself walking along a quiet Atlantic beach or standing above the clouds on a temperate mountain plateau.

La Campagne Tropicana: The Coastal Sanctuary of African Elegance
Nestled along the clean, untamed coastline of Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos, La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort stands as a masterclass in the preservation and modernization of African architecture and culture. While the rest of Lagos rapidly transforms into a concrete jungle of glass and steel, this 65-acre paradise offers a vivid counter-narrative.

The resort’s architecture rejects Western minimalism in favor of high-fidelity, traditional structural designs. Accommodations are housed in luxurious, thatched-roof chalets constructed from rich local timber, featuring intricate woven mats and polished bamboo finishes. These structures are seamlessly integrated into the natural ecosystem, bounded by the warm Atlantic Ocean on one side and a fresh, calm mangrove lagoon on the other.

Nigeria’s Ultimate Luxury Escape

For couples, La Campagne offers an intensely romantic, curated escape. The trend toward “slow travel” is realized here through private sunset boat cruises on the lagoon, beachside dining under the stars, and couples’ spa treatments rooted in traditional African wellness practices using locally sourced botanical oils.

Conversely, the resort has also become a sanctuary for solo travelers seeking a digital detox. The presence of the Simi River the longest swimming pool in Africa, which stretches along the edge of the lagoon offers a meditative space for reflection. Solo guests can spend hours kayaking through the quiet mangroves, reading under the shade of coconut palms, or engaging with local artisans. It is a premium experience that proves luxury does not lie in uniformity, but in a deep, authentic connection to the land.

Obudu Mountain Resort: The Majestic Escape Above the Clouds
If La Campagne Tropicana represents the soul of the West African coastline, Obudu Mountain Resort in Cross River State represents the breathtaking grandeur of the continent’s interior highlands. Perched on the sprawling Obudu Plateau, close to the Cameroon border, this resort sits at an altitude of over 1,500\text{ meters} above sea level, boasting a temperate alpine climate that feels worlds away from the tropical humidity of the coast.

The journey to Obudu is an integral part of its allure. Whether arriving via the winding, dramatic drives of the “99 turns” or viewing the canopy from the famous cable car system, the transition into the mountains is visually spectacular. The landscape is dominated by rolling green hills, deep valleys wrapped in perpetual morning fog, and pristine, cascading waterfalls.

Nigeria’s Ultimate Luxury Escape

For years, infrastructural challenges sidelined this national treasure, but a dedicated revival has restored its status as a premier mountain retreat. The resort’s classic stone cabins and chalets have been extensively refurbished to blend rustic, fireplace-warmed charm with modern luxury amenities.

For solo adventurers and wellness seekers, Obudu offers an unparalleled environment for mental clarity. The crisp mountain air and absolute silence make it an ideal destination for creative retreats, writing sabbaticals, or intense fitness resets. Guests can spend their mornings trekking through the ancient canopy walkway, suspended high above the tropical rainforest floor, or hiking to the Holy Mountain to watch the sunrise pierce through the clouds. For couples, the cool climate creates a naturally intimate atmosphere, complete with fireside dinners, horseback riding through the valleys, and swimming in natural, spring-fed grottoes. Obudu provides an alpine escape that rivals the Swiss countryside, entirely free from international travel friction.

The New Luxury Paradigm: Rooted and Refined
The sustained trending status of La Campagne Tropicana and Obudu Mountain Resort signals a permanent shift in consumer behavior. The modern Nigerian traveler is increasingly sophisticated, prioritizing experiences that offer cultural depth, environmental sustainability, and exclusivity.

This domestic revival has also forced hospitality operators to elevate their standards. Luxury is no longer defined merely by importing foreign goods, but by how beautifully a resort can package local heritage. From menus that elevate traditional Nigerian cuisine into fine-dining multi-course experiences, to the architectural celebration of local textiles like Adire and Aṣọ-òkè in interior spaces, heritage tourism has officially entered its golden era.

Nigeria’s Ultimate Luxury Escape

The resurgence of Obudu and La Campagne Tropicana is more than a fleeting response to economic realities; it is a cultural homecoming. By stripping away the stress of foreign exchange and international logistics, these iconic destinations have reminded travelers of the immense, untapped beauty within their own borders. Whether it is the therapeutic crash of the Atlantic waves against a coconut grove or the serene, mist-covered peaks of the Cross River highlands, Nigeria’s premier traditional resorts are proving that true luxury isn’t found across an ocean it is waiting to be rediscovered at home.
