• 🇺🇸🇳🇬 US TO WITHDRAW ABOUT 200 TROOPS FROM NIGERIA BY SEPTEMBER The United States is preparing to withdraw about 200 military personnel from Nigeria by late September, according to reports citing US military officials. Smaller teams of American trainers and intelligence personnel are expected to remain in Nigeria as Washington continues its security partnership with the country. The US deployment, which began earlier this year, focused on intelligence, surveillance, training and counterterrorism support. US Africa Command Commander, Gen. Dagvin Anderson, said many American troops had already been withdrawn following a May operation in the Lake Chad Basin that killed Abu Bilal al-Minuki, described by US officials as a senior Islamic State leader. Anderson said the operation significantly weakened ISIS leadership and stressed that intelligence cooperation with Nigeria would continue. The Pentagon has described the deployment as a model for supporting African partners through a limited military footprint rather than a large permanent presence. The planned withdrawal therefore does not mean an end to US-Nigeria security cooperation, as Washington is expected to maintain intelligence and training support. #USNigeria #Nigeria #USMilitary #Security #CounterTerrorism #LakeChad #AFRICOM #Terrorism #NigeriaNews #BreakingNews #Morganable
  • Bangladesh is considering joining the Mecca Pact, a defence agreement involving Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan. The move could reshape Dhaka’s foreign relations, particularly with neighbouring India, as Bangladesh seeks to strengthen its security ties with key Muslim-majority countries. However, Bangladesh has not made a final decision on joining the pact.
  • Catastrophic flash flood has swept through communities along the Nepal-Tibet border, killing dozens of people and leaving hundreds missing. The disaster struck after a massive ice-and-rock avalanche from a glacier collapsed into the Lhende River in Nepal’s Rasuwa district, triggering a powerful surge of water and debris downstream. A magnitude 4.4 earthquake was recorded in the region shortly before the flood, raising questions over whether the tremor contributed to the glacier collapse. However, authorities say investigations are still ongoing and the exact trigger has not been conclusively established. The flood destroyed homes, roads, bridges and other infrastructure, while several hydropower projects were also affected. Rescue operations are underway in both Nepal and Tibet, but damaged roads and difficult mountainous terrain are hampering efforts to reach affected communities. Authorities are continuing to search for missing people and assess the scale of the destruction.
  • THE MUSIC WORLD MOURNS A LEGEND DOLLY PARTON DIES AT 80 American singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman and philanthropist Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80. The legendary country music icon died peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, her family confirmed. • Naja’atu Muhammad Denies Sending Delegation to Apologise to Pantami
Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad has denied reports that she sent a delegation to Gombe State to apologize to former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, over remarks she previously made about him. The reports had suggested that Naja’atu Muhammad had taken steps to reconcile with the former minister by sending representatives to Gombe to convey an apology over comments she had earlier made concerning Pantami. However, she has rejected the claim, describing the report as inaccurate and stressing that she did not authorized any delegation to visit Professor Pantami for such a purpose. The development comes amid continued public interest in the previous remarks attributed to Naja’atu Muhammad and their implications, particularly given Professor Pantami’s prominent position in Nigeria’s political and public affairs. Naja’atu’s denial therefore seeks to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged meeting and to distance herself from reports suggesting that she had initiated an apology through intermediaries. She maintained that members of the public should not rely on unverified reports concerning the matter, urging them to distinguish between confirmed information and claims circulating through informal channels. Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, remains a prominent figure in Nigeria’s public discourse, particularly on issues relating to technology, digital transformation, governance and national development.
The alleged delegation to Gombe had generated attention because of the personalities involved and the suggestion that it represented an attempt to resolve differences arising from Naja’atu Muhammad’s earlier comments. With her latest clarification, however, Naja’atu has disputed the account that she sought to apologize to the former minister through representatives. The controversy underscores the importance of verifying reports involving prominent public figures before they are circulated, particularly where claims of apologies, reconciliations or political engagements are concerned.

Among those present at the gathering was Senator Barau I. Jibrin, Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, alongside the governors of Kano, Jigawa and Kebbi states, as well as other senior government officials and dignitaries. The financial support is intended to contribute to the development of the university project at the JIBWIS National Headquarters in Jos, which the organisation has identified as part of its efforts to expand educational opportunities. The presentation formed part of the activities surrounding the national meeting, which brought together JIBWIS leadership, scholars, political figures and other stakeholders. The donation also highlights the growing engagement between political actors and religious organisations in supporting educational and community-development initiatives. Fortune University, being developed under the auspices of JIBWIS, is expected to become an important educational institution in Jos upon completion. #Jibwis #Sheikhjingir #Izala #Jibwisnationalheadquarters

abuja —

British contemporary R&B and Nigerian Afrobeats share a deep connection. Rhythm and soul naturally bind these two genres together.

A Powerful Cultural Connection
Ayodeji Balogun, known globally as Wizkid, creates magic in the studio. He regularly collaborates with British vocal powerhouse Jorja Smith. Together, they never deliver a standard international crossover. Instead, their artistic partnership creates an immediate cultural moment.

The Big Reunion in 2026
The dynamic duo previously showed unforgettable chemistry on the 2019 hit “Come Closer.” They also thrilled music fans with the sultry track “Be Honest.” Now, the two artists have officially reunited after four long years.

A New Chart-Topping Single
The artists released their latest collaboration, “Alive,” on July 2, 2026. This fresh track has instantly taken the global music world by storm. Furthermore, it serves as the prime promotional lead single for Jorja Smith’s next project.

Anticipation for the New Album

Jorja Smith recently announced her third studio album, What Are The Odds. The official release date for the album is August 21, 2026. Therefore, this new song builds immense anticipation for her upcoming project.

Breaking Records Online
The track has already triggered a massive wave of internet trends. Additionally, it is generating record-breaking streaming numbers across major platforms. Listeners are streaming the song heavily on Apple Music and Spotify Nigeria.

Anatomy of a Hit: The Sonic Blueprint of “Alive”
The modern music landscape contains many high-bpm club bangers. It also features aggressive log drums. However, “Alive” stands out sharply because it showcases deliberate, confident restraint.

Masterclass in Production
The track offers a masterclass in atmospheric, mid-tempo production. The brilliant British-Nigerian producer P2J, born Richard Isong, crafted the entire beat. He historically serves as a vital sonic architect for both artists.

Merging Diverse Sounds
Musically, P2J constructs a spacious, shimmering soundscape. He effortlessly merges the bounce of UK garage and house music. Then, he infuses the polyrhythmic, warm percussion of classic Afro-soul.

Creating Space for the Vocals

The instrumental does not feel crowded. Consequently, Jorja and Wizkid treat the production with deep respect. They allow the groove to breathe instead of competing for dominance.

Exploring the Songwriting and Lyrics
Lyrically, the song captures the dizzying optimism of a new romance. It highlights the electric chemistry and vulnerability of a relationship’s earliest stages. Listeners will immediately recognize the beautiful feeling of the honeymoon phase.

A Star-Studded Writing Team
The team wrote the track collaboratively in London. This elite group included Smith, Wizkid, and P2J. Exceptional songwriters Clementine Douglas and Austin Jnr Iornongu Iwar, known as Tay Iwar, also contributed.

Crafting Intentional Verses
Because of this brilliant team, the songwriting feels deeply intentional. Every line delivers a specific emotion to the listener.

The Silky Harmonies

Jorja Smith introduces the record with her signature silky, jazz-infused falsettos. Thus, she lays down a soft, emotive vocal foundation.

The Effortless Verse

Wizkid enters the track with his unmistakably smooth delivery. He weaves his melodies through her harmonies like a seasoned conversationalist. Consequently, he feels like a true partner rather than a distant guest.

The Streaming Surge: Nigeria Welcomes Starboy Home
The track is currently receiving massive critical acclaim across the United Kingdom. It is also winning over music critics throughout Europe. Meanwhile, its reception in Nigeria has been nothing short of explosive.

Dominating the Charts
“Alive” scaled the upper echelons of the charts within hours of its midnight release. It quickly conquered the Apple Music Nigeria Top 100. Similarly, it dominated the Spotify Daily Viral Tracks chart.

The Ultimate Late-Night Vibe

The song has established itself as the premier late-night vibe anthem for July. Nigerian music consumers clearly hold a unique space in their hearts for Wizkid.

The Reputation of Starboy
His massive fanbase fondly refers to him as “Starboy.” He has built a legendary reputation in the music industry. Specifically, he delivers low-tempo, luxury-vibe verses that age like fine wine.

Going Viral on Social Media
Music bloggers and casual listeners are breaking down the structure of his verse on social media. They praise his artistic maturity on platforms like X and TikTok.

Soundtrack for Everyday Life

The track has sparked a massive wave of user-generated content. For instance, it soundtracks thousands of late-night driving videos. It also elevates sleek lifestyle vlogs and fashion transition clips in Lagos and Abuja.

The Perfect Sonic Escape
The demographic currently navigates a very busy mid-year routine. Therefore, the laid-back nature of “Alive” provides the perfect sonic escape for fans.

Cinematic Intimacy: The Visual Allure of Paris
A stunning official music video further accelerates the digital momentum of the song. The visionary filmmaker Gabriel Trautmann directed this beautiful visual piece.

A Romantic Backdrop
The production team shot the video on location in Paris. This breathtaking, romantic backdrop perfectly mirrors the effortless energy of the song.

High-Fashion Presentation

The visual operates like a high-fashion documentary. It avoids high-octane choreography or complex, melodramatic storylines. Instead, it focuses on pure elegance.

A Magical Parisian Night

The video follows Jorja Smith through a vibrant summer night in the French capital. Friends, spontaneous laughter, and late-night celebrations surround her.

The Rooftop Encounter

The climax of the visual arrives during a stunningly framed rooftop encounter. This scene overlooks the iconic Parisian skyline. At this moment, she happily reunites with Wizkid.

Palpable On-Screen Chemistry
The chemistry between the two global icons is palpable. Their interactions feel incredibly natural. Ultimately, they celebrate presence, youthful freedom, and genuine artistic connection.

Amassing Millions of Views

The video has already amassed millions of views on YouTube. Fans heavily praise the clean styling and the rich color grading. They also admire the sophisticated presentation of modern Black luxury.

The Broader Picture: Wizkid’s Unstoppable 2026 Run
The success of “Alive” is not happening in isolation. Rather, it forms part of a highly calculated run of global dominance. Wizkid is truly dominating the music scene in 2026.

Elite International Collaborations
Fans anxiously await the next major solo chapter of his career following his personal milestones. Meanwhile, the singer asserts his dominance through elite international features.

Shaking Up the Global Scene
Just weeks prior, Wizkid turned heads with his inclusion on the song “Coca Body.” Dutch rap titan Frenna created this infectious cross-border anthem. The track also featured British-Nigerian sensation Odeal.

Displaying Unparalleled Versatility

Wizkid fluidly moves between a gritty Amsterdam-to-London rap record and a soulful UK-Afro-soul fusion. By doing this, he demonstrates an unparalleled level of versatility.

Elevating the Global Sound

He remains one of the few African artists who can enter entirely different musical ecosystems. He always retains his distinct identity. Furthermore, he easily elevates the host artist to new commercial heights.

Mutual Artistic Respect
Jorja Smith recently expressed her deep admiration for the Nigerian icon during an interview with Billboard. She loves his incredible work ethic and unique style.

A Summer Anthem for the Soul
Ultimately, “Alive” represents much more than a routine single. It serves as a powerful reminder of genuine creative synergy.

Authentic Studio Connection
Many major international collaborations are frequently manufactured via cold, distant email file exchanges. Managers often arrange these tracks from afar. However, the authentic studio connection between Jorja Smith and Wizkid shines through every single note.

A Permanent Playlist Fixture
The summer heat continues to intensify globally as July progresses. Therefore, “Alive” is firmly positioned to remain a permanent fixture on elite playlists worldwide.

A Timeless Contribution
The Starboy has delivered yet another timeless contribution to the global soundscape. He proves that the quietest grooves sometimes make the loudest noise.
