President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on political leaders in Plateau State to embrace inclusive governance by appointing members of the Hausa/Fulani community to key positions in the state government and recognizing them as indigenes of the state.

The President made the remarks during a high-level dialogue meeting with political, traditional, and religious leaders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

  • Goldman Sachs Lowers 2027 Brent Oil Price Forecast Over Supply Growth, Demand Risks

Goldman Sachs has reduced its forecast for Brent crude oil prices in 2027, citing expectations of increased global oil supply and growing concerns over weaker demand.

The investment bank said rising production from major oil-producing countries, coupled with uncertainties surrounding global economic growth, could place downward pressure on oil prices in the coming years.

Analysts noted that slower economic activity in key markets and the increasing adoption of alternative energy sources may affect long-term demand for crude oil.

The revised outlook comes as energy markets continue to monitor geopolitical developments, production policies by major exporters, and changing consumption patterns worldwide.

Jimmy Neesham Rising Against The Odds

From Humble Beginnings to International Cricket Stardom

Jimmy Neesham Rising Against The Odds

Jimmy Neesham Rising Against the Odds is more than a title. It is the story of a young boy from Auckland who dared to dream in a world that constantly demanded proof before offering recognition. It is the story of persistence, quiet strength and an unshakable passion for cricket that kept him moving even when the journey seemed heavy. Jimmy Neesham’s rise is not an accident. It is the reward of staying committed to growth, embracing difficult moments and turning setbacks into stepping stones. For the young athlete searching for direction and inspiration, his life stands as a shining reminder that talent alone is not enough. Determination is what shapes destiny.

James Douglas Sheahan Neesham, popularly known as Jimmy Neesham, grew up like many young children in New Zealand who found joy in sports. Cricket was not just a game for him. It was a language he spoke even before he fully understood it. As a child, he spent long hours on the field, sometimes under the bright sun and sometimes under cold winds. What mattered to him was not the weather but the feeling of bat meeting ball, the excitement of chasing a target and the quiet hope that one day he would wear the Black Caps jersey.

However, the path to that dream was not straightforward. Neesham’s early years in cricket were filled with challenges that would have pushed many talented players away. The competitive nature of New Zealand’s cricket environment meant only those with unshakable focus and relentless effort could rise. Neesham was talented, yes, but like most gifted young athletes, he faced moments of inconsistency. There were seasons where the runs did not come easily, where his bowling lacked rhythm and where opportunities seemed just beyond reach. His place in teams was not always secure and he often fought self doubt.

One of the defining qualities of Jimmy Neesham is his ability to reflect rather than retreat. Instead of giving up, he used those difficult seasons to understand his weaknesses, refine his strengths and sharpen his mental resilience. Every disappointment became a lesson. Every moment of doubt became a reason to train harder. Every small success became motivation to chase the next one. That attitude is what differentiates ordinary athletes from exceptional ones.

His breakthrough began to take shape in the domestic cricket scene. Representing Auckland and later Otago, Neesham displayed a remarkable all round ability that quickly placed him among the most promising young cricketers in the country. When he batted, he brought power and confidence. When he bowled, he delivered with consistency and accuracy. His presence on the field showed a maturity beyond his age. Coaches began to trust him, teammates relied on him and selectors started paying attention.

The reward for his persistence came in 2012 when he finally made his debut for the New Zealand national cricket team. Wearing the Black Caps jersey for the first time was not just a dream fulfilled. It was a reminder that struggle is part of success. His debut marked the beginning of a new chapter, one that would introduce him to the world and test his ability to perform under pressure, shoulder responsibility and rise during global competitions.

Neesham’s international career has been rich with defining moments. One of his most unforgettable performances came during the 2019 Cricket World Cup. New Zealand’s journey in that tournament was outstanding, and Neesham played a major role in guiding the team through crucial matches. His calmness under pressure, his ability to score valuable runs when the team needed them most and his disciplined bowling revealed a player who had matured through experience. Even during the dramatic final, one of the most unforgettable matches in cricket history, Neesham remained composed and gave everything he had. Although New Zealand fell short in a heartbreaking conclusion, his contributions were widely praised.

His presence was strongly felt again in the 2021 T20 World Cup. When many counted New Zealand out against strong opponents, Neesham stepped up with the determination of a player who understood big moments. His quickfire performances with the bat and his adaptability with the ball proved crucial in helping the team advance deep into the tournament. He reminded the world once again that champions are not only made by skill but by courage.

Beyond his skill on the field, what makes Jimmy Neesham a unique figure in modern cricket is his honesty and authenticity. Unlike many athletes who hide all signs of struggle, Neesham has openly spoken about the emotional and mental battles he faced throughout his career. There were moments where he considered walking away from cricket entirely. There were times when the expectations, disappointments and pressure became overwhelming. But instead of giving up, he chose to continue. He chose to rebuild himself. He chose growth over retreat.

His openness about these experiences has made him an extraordinary role model. Young athletes around the world often feel alone when they face challenges. They assume success must be smooth and without struggle. Neesham’s story shatters that belief. By sharing his vulnerabilities, he teaches that setbacks do not weaken a person. They strengthen character. They deepen resilience. They prepare champions.

His career in global T20 leagues has added another dimension to his journey. From the Indian Premier League to tournaments in South Africa, England and Australia, Neesham has proven that adaptability is just as important as talent. Every league presented a new environment, new teammates and new expectations. He embraced them all. His ability to adjust his game, maintain confidence and perform under varying conditions shows the intelligence and professionalism he brings to the sport.

Yet, what remains most inspiring is not just his cricketing success but his personality. Neesham is known worldwide for his sharp wit, his sense of humour and his genuine connection with fans. On social media, he speaks with honesty, clarity and sometimes a touch of sarcasm that makes people appreciate his human side. He treats fame with humility and pressure with perspective.

Today, Jimmy Neesham stands as a powerful symbol of rising through obstacles. His growth from a hopeful young boy in Auckland to one of the most respected all rounders in modern cricket is proof that success comes to those who remain committed even when the road becomes rough. His journey teaches that greatness does not require perfection. It requires persistence. It requires courage during tough times. It requires belief when no one is watching.

For young athletes in Nigeria and around the world, Neesham’s story carries deep wisdom. Success is not measured by how quickly you rise but by how strongly you stand when the world challenges you. Champions are not made only on winning days. They are shaped on the days when failure whispers that you are not good enough. Jimmy Neesham refused to listen to that voice. He kept moving, kept believing and kept giving everything he had.

If there is one message his journey leaves behind, it is this. Every dream is valid. Every struggle has purpose. Every setback is an invitation to grow. You do not rise because life is easy. You rise because you refuse to give up. Jimmy Neesham Rising Against the Odds is not just the story of a cricketer. It is the story of strength, faith and resilience. It is a map for every athlete who dares to dream big.

And it is a reminder that no matter where you are today, you can become everything you aspire to be if you keep fighting, keep improving and keep believing in the journey.
