• 🇺🇸🇳🇬 US TO WITHDRAW ABOUT 200 TROOPS FROM NIGERIA BY SEPTEMBER The United States is preparing to withdraw about 200 military personnel from Nigeria by late September, according to reports citing US military officials. Smaller teams of American trainers and intelligence personnel are expected to remain in Nigeria as Washington continues its security partnership with the country. The US deployment, which began earlier this year, focused on intelligence, surveillance, training and counterterrorism support. US Africa Command Commander, Gen. Dagvin Anderson, said many American troops had already been withdrawn following a May operation in the Lake Chad Basin that killed Abu Bilal al-Minuki, described by US officials as a senior Islamic State leader. Anderson said the operation significantly weakened ISIS leadership and stressed that intelligence cooperation with Nigeria would continue. The Pentagon has described the deployment as a model for supporting African partners through a limited military footprint rather than a large permanent presence. The planned withdrawal therefore does not mean an end to US-Nigeria security cooperation, as Washington is expected to maintain intelligence and training support. #USNigeria #Nigeria #USMilitary #Security #CounterTerrorism #LakeChad #AFRICOM #Terrorism #NigeriaNews #BreakingNews #Morganable
  • Bangladesh is considering joining the Mecca Pact, a defence agreement involving Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan. The move could reshape Dhaka’s foreign relations, particularly with neighbouring India, as Bangladesh seeks to strengthen its security ties with key Muslim-majority countries. However, Bangladesh has not made a final decision on joining the pact.
  • Catastrophic flash flood has swept through communities along the Nepal-Tibet border, killing dozens of people and leaving hundreds missing. The disaster struck after a massive ice-and-rock avalanche from a glacier collapsed into the Lhende River in Nepal’s Rasuwa district, triggering a powerful surge of water and debris downstream. A magnitude 4.4 earthquake was recorded in the region shortly before the flood, raising questions over whether the tremor contributed to the glacier collapse. However, authorities say investigations are still ongoing and the exact trigger has not been conclusively established. The flood destroyed homes, roads, bridges and other infrastructure, while several hydropower projects were also affected. Rescue operations are underway in both Nepal and Tibet, but damaged roads and difficult mountainous terrain are hampering efforts to reach affected communities. Authorities are continuing to search for missing people and assess the scale of the destruction.

  • Naja’atu Muhammad Denies Sending Delegation to Apologise to Pantami
Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad has denied reports that she sent a delegation to Gombe State to apologize to former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, over remarks she previously made about him. The reports had suggested that Naja’atu Muhammad had taken steps to reconcile with the former minister by sending representatives to Gombe to convey an apology over comments she had earlier made concerning Pantami. However, she has rejected the claim, describing the report as inaccurate and stressing that she did not authorized any delegation to visit Professor Pantami for such a purpose. The development comes amid continued public interest in the previous remarks attributed to Naja’atu Muhammad and their implications, particularly given Professor Pantami’s prominent position in Nigeria’s political and public affairs. Naja’atu’s denial therefore seeks to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged meeting and to distance herself from reports suggesting that she had initiated an apology through intermediaries. She maintained that members of the public should not rely on unverified reports concerning the matter, urging them to distinguish between confirmed information and claims circulating through informal channels. Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, remains a prominent figure in Nigeria’s public discourse, particularly on issues relating to technology, digital transformation, governance and national development.
The alleged delegation to Gombe had generated attention because of the personalities involved and the suggestion that it represented an attempt to resolve differences arising from Naja’atu Muhammad’s earlier comments. With her latest clarification, however, Naja’atu has disputed the account that she sought to apologize to the former minister through representatives. The controversy underscores the importance of verifying reports involving prominent public figures before they are circulated, particularly where claims of apologies, reconciliations or political engagements are concerned.
  • Tinubu Campaign Team Donates ₦600 Million to JIBWIS National Headquarters for Fortune University Project The campaign team of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has donated ₦600 million to the National Headquarters of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Jos to support the development of Fortune University, a university project being undertaken by the organisation. The donation was announced during the JIBWIS National Meeting held in Jos on Sunday, where prominent political leaders and other senior personalities were in attendance. Among those present at the gathering was Senator Barau I. Jibrin, Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, alongside the governors of Kano, Jigawa and Kebbi states, as well as other senior government officials and dignitaries. The financial support is intended to contribute to the development of the university project at the JIBWIS National Headquarters in Jos, which the organisation has identified as part of its efforts to expand educational opportunities. The presentation formed part of the activities surrounding the national meeting, which brought together JIBWIS leadership, scholars, political figures and other stakeholders. The donation also highlights the growing engagement between political actors and religious organisations in supporting educational and community-development initiatives. Fortune University, being developed under the auspices of JIBWIS, is expected to become an important educational institution in Jos upon completion. #Jibwis #Sheikhjingir #Izala #Jibwisnationalheadquarters

Nestled on the stunning Jos Plateau, the city of Jos offers a unique experience for those who crave serenity, scenic beauty, and a climate that is arguably the best in Nigeria. Known for its cooler-than-average weather, picturesque landscapes, and welcoming atmosphere, Jos is a destination that captivates the soul. The city’s blend of natural charm and cultural richness makes it a place where visitors find themselves wanting to stay indefinitely. Let’s delve into what makes Jos so special, especially its weather and natural beauty, which have earned it the reputation as one of the most pleasant places to live in Nigeria.

The Unmatched Weather of Jos

One of the greatest assets of Jos is its temperate climate, which is a refreshing contrast to the sweltering heat common in many other parts of Nigeria. The city’s location on the Jos Plateau, at an altitude of about 1,200 meters above sea level, contributes significantly to its cool, pleasant weather throughout the year. This high elevation ensures that even in the heart of Nigeria’s tropical belt, Jos enjoys cooler temperatures than most of the country. Daily highs typically range between 24°C to 27°C (75°F to 80°F), with nights often dipping to a comfortable 15°C to 18°C (59°F to 64°F), offering relief to residents and visitors alike.

The mild climate in Jos is further complemented by consistent rainfall, especially during the rainy season. Between May and October, the city experiences gentle showers that refresh the landscape, turning the surrounding hills and valleys into lush, green paradises. However, even in the rainy season, the rain is rarely harsh. Most of the time, you will witness light drizzles or isolated thunderstorms, adding a sense of calmness to the atmosphere. This balance of sun and rain keeps Jos’s air crisp and clean, making it a haven for those seeking to escape the dust and pollution that plague other urban centers in Nigeria.

A Cool Escape in the Tropics

For many, living in Jos feels like living in a tropical retreat without the discomfort of extreme heat or suffocating humidity. The gentle breezes that sweep through the city, particularly in the evening, are a welcome feature. During the harmattan season, the cool north-easterly winds lower the temperatures even further, making it almost feel like winter in a tropical country. Despite the drop in temperature, the city retains its warm, inviting charm.

It’s no surprise that those who come to Jos for a short stay often end up extending their visit. The weather, combined with the city’s slower pace of life, encourages relaxation and rejuvenation. Many expatriates and Nigerians from other parts of the country have chosen to make Jos their permanent home due to this unique climatic advantage. It is not uncommon to hear them say that once you experience Jos, you never want to leave.

Scenic Beauty that Complements the Climate

Beyond the weather, Jos is blessed with striking natural beauty. The city’s hilly terrain offers stunning panoramic views, especially around the Shere Hills, which are some of the highest points in Nigeria. These rolling hills, often covered in mist during the early mornings, create a tranquil atmosphere, perfect for hiking, picnicking, or just soaking in the beauty of nature. The breath-taking landscape is accentuated by clear skies and radiant sunsets that make each day feel like a work of art.

The cool weather allows for a rich diversity of flora and fauna that thrive in Jos’s environment. Flowering plants bloom year-round, thanks to the consistent rainfall and moderate temperatures. Trees like jacarandas and eucalyptus thrive in this climate, adding to the lush greenery that characterizes the city’s parks, gardens, and neighbourhoods.

Another feature that sets Jos apart is its captivating rock formations. Wase Rock, located about 216 kilometres southeast of the city, is an iconic landmark. Rising dramatically from the ground, this monolith is a favourite spot for geologists and adventure seekers alike. The rock’s unusual shape and grandeur are awe-inspiring, and the trek up its slopes offers unparalleled views of the surrounding countryside.

Cultural and Historical Richness

Jos is not only about natural beauty and great weather; it’s also a cultural melting pot. The city has been a hub for various ethnic groups, each contributing to the rich tapestry of its cultural landscape. From the traditional Nok culture, famous for its ancient terracotta sculptures, to the vibrant markets where you can find crafts, clothing, and local delicacies, Jos provides a fascinating cultural experience.

The National Museum in Jos is one of Nigeria’s oldest and most important museums, housing a collection of artefacts that showcase the country’s diverse heritage. Walking through the museum, visitors can get a sense of the deep history that runs through the city and the surrounding Plateau region. The cool climate of Jos also makes it the perfect environment for exploring these historical sites without the fatigue often associated with warmer locations.

An Ideal Environment for Outdoor Activities

The weather in Jos is perfect for outdoor activities, which makes it an attractive destination for adventurers and nature lovers. Whether you are interested in bird-watching at the Jos Wildlife Park, exploring the waterfalls at Kurra, or camping in the hills, the mild climate ensures that you can enjoy these activities comfortably all year round. The cooler temperatures mean you can hike for hours without feeling overheated, and the frequent light rain showers keep the dust at bay.

Golfers will also appreciate the Rayfield Golf Course, one of the oldest golf courses in Nigeria, where the cool climate makes for an ideal golfing experience. Imagine playing 18 holes surrounded by the undulating hills of the Plateau, under clear blue skies with a light breeze cooling your skin.

The Heart of Hospitality

The people of Jos are another reason why visitors fall in love with the city and never want to leave. Jos is known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere. The locals are friendly, and the city has a slower, more relaxed pace than many other Nigerian cities. Whether you’re interacting with street vendors in the bustling markets or enjoying a quiet meal in a local restaurant, you’re always greeted with smiles and genuine warmth.

Jos offers a unique blend of mild weather, scenic beauty, cultural richness, and warm hospitality that makes it a place you’ll never want to leave. The city provides a refuge from the hustle and heat of other Nigerian cities while offering an abundance of natural and cultural attractions. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, history buff, or simply someone looking for a place to unwind, Jos has something for everyone. Once you experience it, you’ll find it hard to say goodbye.
