• Rev. Ezekiel Dachamo Alleges Boko Haram Infiltrated Nigerian Military, Links Claim to U.S. Troop Withdrawal

JOS, Nigeria — The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rev. Ezekiel Dachamo, has alleged that members of the Boko Haram insurgent group have occupied strategic positions within the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The cleric made the remarks in a video circulated on his social media page, where he discussed the security situation in Nigeria and the recurring violence in parts of the country.

According to Rev. Dachamo, the alleged infiltration of the military was the reason United States military personnel were withdrawn from Nigeria after, he claimed, they received security reports from troops deployed to assess the security situation.

He further alleged that the U.S. personnel had been sent in connection with concerns over what he described as the killing of Christian communities in parts of the country.

Rev. Dachamo did not provide evidence to substantiate his claims during the video.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Federal Government of Nigeria, and the United States Government had not publicly confirmed Rev. Dachamo

Nigel Farage’s resignation as MP for Clacton has turned a parliamentary standards controversy into a wider test of political money, democratic accountability and migration politics. With major parties refusing to contest the by-election, the episode raises urgent questions about whether electoral theatre can be used to weaken parliamentary scrutiny — and what that means for African diasporas in Britain, Ireland and at home....

  • Teaching Al-Musannaf Requires Rare Scholarly Expertise Beyond the Reach of Many Nigerian Scholars

Renowned Islamic scholar and founder of Darul Hadith Salafiyya, Zaria, Sheikh Muhammad Auwal Adam (Albani Zaria), has stated that teaching Kitabul Al-Musannaf requires an exceptional level of scholarly competence that, according to him, many Nigerian Islamic scholars do not possess.

The late cleric made the remarks during one of his Sahih al-Bukhari lectures in 2013, while discussing contemporary religious issues and the qualifications required to teach classical Islamic texts.

According to Sheikh Albani, Al-Musannaf is among the most comprehensive works in Islamic scholarship and demands mastery of several disciplines before a scholar can competently teach its contents.

"Teaching Kitabul Al-Musannaf requires rare scholarly expertise beyond what many Nigerian scholars possess," he said.

He explained that a scholar seeking to teach the book must possess extensive knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), Hadith sciences (Mustalah al-Hadith), Islamic history (Tarikh), principles of narration, and other related Islamic sciences.

Albani argued that beyond academic qualifications, teaching the text requires years of specialization, extensive research, and a deep understanding of the differences among classical scholars and schools of thought.

According to him, many scholars lack the time, specialization, and depth of knowledge necessary to undertake such a demanding scholarly responsibility.

The respected scholar maintained that teaching advanced Islamic texts without the required expertise could lead to misunderstanding, inaccurate interpretations, and confusion among students of knowledge.

This is an urgent call for the revitalisation of the Ajuwon-Akute Road by the government of Ogun State.

The deplorable condition of the Ajuwon Akute Road in Ifo Local Government Area (LGA) of Ogun state stands as a bleak representation of neglect. It presents manifold challenges and symbolizes the infrastructural deficits plaguing many communities.

The road, a major thoroughfare in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun state, has long been a concern for residents, commuters, and businesses.

It has long stood as a symbol of abandonment, presenting formidable obstacles to residents and businesses. The declining state of the road vividly portrays the neglect and hardship the community faces.

This arterial road, essential for daily commute of thousands and economic vitality of local businesses, has become a source of constant distress.

The road, which connects Ajuwon and Akute, two busy towns in Ifo LGA, is filled with degraded sections, and uneven surfaces. This have made it difficult for Vehicles to navigate. Leading to frequent traffic congestions and accidents.

The situation is worse now because it is the raining season. The road is flooded and almost impassable. This have cause many commuters stranded and business disrupted.

The condition of the Ajuwon Akute Road is nothing short of urgent. What was once a smoothly paved path has deteriorated into series of potholes and crack, severely impacting mobility.

This vital highway, once a symbol of connectivity and economic activities, now encapsulates neglect, with its deplorable condition posing serious questions about the community’s future.

The road serves as a major route for farmers to transport their goods to the market. However, the poor state of the road has made it difficult for them to do so, hereby resulting in loss of income and wastage of agricultural produce.

With the road in disrepair, the flow of customers and supplies is hugely hindered, leading to economic gridlock.

Some businesses have been forced to close down, while others are struggling to stay adrift amidst rising operational cost.

The deteriorating road condition discourages outside investors and customers, who finds accessing the area difficult, thereby stifling local economic growth.

Real estate values in the vicinity of the road have plummeted due to the accessibility issues and the general decline in desirability of the area.

The immediate consequence of the road’s poor condition is a significant disruption to local traffic and transportation.

Commuters face daily challenges, with journey times considerably extended and vehicles subject to increased wear and tear.

The lack of reliable road condition forces drivers to seek alternative routes. Further straining the surrounding roads and contributing to congestion.

Public transportation is also affected, with fewer service providers willing to navigate the harmful road for the fear of damage to their vehicles, leading to increase in travel costs and reduced accessibility for the locals.

The increased transportation cost and uncertainties surrounding access to market and suppliers deter investments and discourage new business venture. Stifling economic growths and innovation.

The consequential effects of the road have deeply affected the local economy. Businesses, particularly those reliant on the timely delivery of their goods and services, face challenges that further affect productivity and profitability.

Beyond the economic aspect, the deteriorated state of the road poses significant risks to public health and safety. The stagnant water collected in potholes serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other vectors, leading to the spread of diseases such as malaria and other water-borne diseases among residents.

Furthermore, the inapproachability of certain areas hinders emergency services, threatening the well-being of the community in times of crisis.

The state of the road also increases the risk of vehicular accidents, endangering the lives of commuters.

Residents of the area have voiced their frustration and concerns at the state of the road. They have made numerous appeals to the government and relevant authorities to fix the road.

Public forums, social media, and direct appeals to the authorities have underscored the community’s dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs.

Despite numerous promises by government officials to fix the road, nothing has been done so far. This has left residents and commuters more frustrated and disappointed.

The communication gap between residents and authorities only exacerbates the sense of neglect felt by those directly affected by the road’s condition.

To address the issue, a multi-prolonged approach is necessary, the community effort should be mobilized for temporary fixes and pressure campaigns can draw attention to the urgent need for repairs.

Public-private partnership could be explored to expedite road construction and maintenance operations. The local government and the community can also work together in proffering solutions.

Although these are not permanent solutions, it will help to make the road assessable while waiting on the government to do what is required of them.

The deplorable condition of the Ajuwon Akute road requires quick and sustained attention. It stands as a testament to the challenges of Urban and rural development in regions struggling with inadequate infrastructure.

While the path to rehabilitation of the road may be fraught with obstacles, Appeals are still being made by the community to the government to urgently address the deplorable condition of the road as it is a major link to other towns and communities in the state.

The government and relevant authorities must prioritize the immediate repair of the road for the well-being and development of the community. As this will propel economic growth, and enhance the quality of life for all.

Repairing the road will be recorded as part of the projects that was successfully executed by the present government.
