President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace love, tolerance and unity as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday shortly after observing the Eid prayers at the Dodan Barracks prayer ground in Lagos,the President thanked God for preserving the lives of Nigerians to witness another Eid-el-Kabir celebration and urged citizens to reflect on the lessons of the season.
“Well, we thank God, Almighty Allah, who has provided for us and kept us to see another year, another Eid-el-Kabir” President Tinubu said
We thank Him for His mercy, and we must learn from the lessons of this season by showing love to one another. No discrimination, no ethnicity, no hatred,” President Tinubu added

He urged Nigerians to be generous and compassionate towards one another in a manner that reflects the nation’s values and shared humanity.
“We should share love and be generous to one another in a way that reflects the values of our country and our common humanity,” the President stated
Tinubu also stressed the importance of tolerance, obedience to the will of Allah and respect for the rule of law.
“It is essential that we remain tolerant, obedient to the will of Allah, and obedient to the rule of law, which must guide our society,” he added.

VP Shettima Calls For Unity
Similarly, Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to continue praying for peace, unity and mutual understanding as the country gradually enters another political season.
Shettima made the call shortly after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Ramat Square Eid Ground in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday.
“Our message to Nigerians is to continue praying for peace and for mutual understanding amongst all Nigerians” Shettima said
“And as we enter the political phase, there is a need for maturity, forbearance, and generosity of spirit in our political interactions,” he added

The Vice President urged political leaders and citizens to place national interest above personal or partisan considerations.
Shettima further noted that peace,unity and peaceful coexistence remain critical to sustaining Nigeria’s democratic journey and development aspirations.
The vice president also appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu, noting that the government remained committed to building a peaceful and prosperous nation.
Shettima stated that the administration was focused on delivering policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of citizens and strengthening national stability.

CAN Feciliate With Muslims
The Christian Association of Nigeria has felicitated Muslims on the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
This was revealed in a statement by the CAN chairman Elisha Ogundiya, in Oyo state, Elisha Ogundiya, on Wednesday.
Mr Ogundiya urged all to embrace mutual respect, understanding and peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in the state.
“Our shared desire for peace, security and development calls us to rise above division and work together for the common good of our state and country,” he said.
Mr Ogundiya urged Nigerians to use the season to pray for divine intervention to address the country’s insecurity issues

National President Of Ansar-Ud-Deen Association of Nigeria, Prince Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem,has urged political leaders and public office holders to recognise leadership as a sacred trust that demands commitment to justice, transparency and the welfare of the people.
He warned citizens to reject corruption, intolerance and actions capable of undermining national stability and development.
Kazeem called on Nigerians to embrace the enduring values of sacrifice, justice, compassion and unity as Muslims across the world celebrate this year’s Eid-ul-Kabir.
He said the occasion of Eid-ul-Kabir remains a reminder of the extraordinary faith, obedience, and sacrifice.

Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, is one of the most important festivals in Islam, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
