  • Naja’atu Muhammad Denies Sending Delegation to Apologise to Pantami
Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad has denied reports that she sent a delegation to Gombe State to apologize to former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, over remarks she previously made about him. The reports had suggested that Naja’atu Muhammad had taken steps to reconcile with the former minister by sending representatives to Gombe to convey an apology over comments she had earlier made concerning Pantami. However, she has rejected the claim, describing the report as inaccurate and stressing that she did not authorized any delegation to visit Professor Pantami for such a purpose. The development comes amid continued public interest in the previous remarks attributed to Naja’atu Muhammad and their implications, particularly given Professor Pantami’s prominent position in Nigeria’s political and public affairs. Naja’atu’s denial therefore seeks to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged meeting and to distance herself from reports suggesting that she had initiated an apology through intermediaries. She maintained that members of the public should not rely on unverified reports concerning the matter, urging them to distinguish between confirmed information and claims circulating through informal channels. Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, remains a prominent figure in Nigeria’s public discourse, particularly on issues relating to technology, digital transformation, governance and national development.
The alleged delegation to Gombe had generated attention because of the personalities involved and the suggestion that it represented an attempt to resolve differences arising from Naja’atu Muhammad’s earlier comments. With her latest clarification, however, Naja’atu has disputed the account that she sought to apologize to the former minister through representatives. The controversy underscores the importance of verifying reports involving prominent public figures before they are circulated, particularly where claims of apologies, reconciliations or political engagements are concerned.
  • Tinubu Campaign Team Donates ₦600 Million to JIBWIS National Headquarters for Fortune University Project The campaign team of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has donated ₦600 million to the National Headquarters of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Jos to support the development of Fortune University, a university project being undertaken by the organisation. The donation was announced during the JIBWIS National Meeting held in Jos on Sunday, where prominent political leaders and other senior personalities were in attendance. Among those present at the gathering was Senator Barau I. Jibrin, Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, alongside the governors of Kano, Jigawa and Kebbi states, as well as other senior government officials and dignitaries. The financial support is intended to contribute to the development of the university project at the JIBWIS National Headquarters in Jos, which the organisation has identified as part of its efforts to expand educational opportunities. The presentation formed part of the activities surrounding the national meeting, which brought together JIBWIS leadership, scholars, political figures and other stakeholders. The donation also highlights the growing engagement between political actors and religious organisations in supporting educational and community-development initiatives. Fortune University, being developed under the auspices of JIBWIS, is expected to become an important educational institution in Jos upon completion. #Jibwis #Sheikhjingir #Izala #Jibwisnationalheadquarters

LAgos —

The word “business” gets thrown around a lot these days. Someone sells snacks to colleagues at work, another person resells clothes on Instagram, and someone else occasionally designs flyers for friends. Before long, everyone calls themselves a business owner.

There is nothing wrong with having a side hustle. In fact, side hustles can provide extra income, build useful skills and even become full-time careers. However, a side hustle and a business are not always the same thing.

Understanding the difference matters. It can change how you think about money, customers, growth and your long-term goals.

A Side Hustle Is Not Automatically a Business

A side hustle is usually an activity that helps you earn money outside your main job, studies or other responsibilities. It may be temporary, flexible or based on an opportunity that comes your way.

For example, someone may bake cakes for friends during weekends. Another person may sell thrift clothes whenever they have enough money to buy stock. Someone else may take photographs at events when clients contact them.

These activities can make money. However, making money does not automatically make something a business.

A business usually has a clearer structure. It has a defined product or service, a target customer, a pricing strategy and a system for delivering value. More importantly, the owner thinks about how to make the operation sustainable.

That is where the real difference begins.

Making Sales Is Not the Same as Building a Business

One of the biggest misconceptions about entrepreneurship is that sales alone prove that a business is successful.

They do not.

Imagine someone sells ₦500,000 worth of products in a month. That sounds impressive. However, if they spent ₦450,000 buying the products, another ₦30,000 on delivery and ₦20,000 on other expenses, they have made little or no profit.

This is why entrepreneurs need to understand more than sales. They need to understand costs, profit, cash flow and customer retention.

A side hustle can put money in your pocket. A well-run business should also create a system that allows that income to continue.

A Business Needs Structure

You do not need a large office, employees or a fancy website to have a real business.

However, you need some structure.

You should know what you are selling and who you are selling it to. You should also know how much it costs to provide your product or service and how much you need to charge.

In addition, you need a way to keep track of your income and expenses.

You also need to think about what happens when demand increases.

If you receive 30 orders tomorrow, can you handle them? Can you deliver on time? Do you have enough stock? Can customers reach you easily? Do you have a process for handling complaints?

These questions separate a casual hustle from an operation that can grow.

Your Customers Should Not Depend on Luck

Another important difference is consistency.

A side hustle may depend heavily on personal contacts. You sell because a friend needs something. Then a relative places an order. Later, someone recommends you to a colleague.

That is useful, especially when you are starting. However, you cannot build long-term growth around luck and occasional referrals alone.

A business needs a reliable way to attract and retain customers.

This could come through social media, referrals, advertising, partnerships, a physical location or a strong online presence. The method does not matter as much as the consistency behind it.

When customers know what you offer and can easily find you, you have started building something more sustainable.

Not Every Side Hustle Needs to Become a Business

There is also nothing wrong with keeping your hustle small.

Not everyone wants to build a large company. Some people simply want extra income. Others enjoy offering a service occasionally without turning it into a full-time operation.

That is perfectly valid.

The problem starts when people measure their progress using the language of entrepreneurship without doing the work that comes with it.

Calling something a business does not make it one. A logo does not make it one. Having an Instagram page does not make it one. Even having customers does not automatically make it one.

What matters is the structure behind the activity.

When Should You Take Your Side Hustle More Seriously?

Your side hustle may be ready to become a proper business when demand becomes consistent.

For instance, you may start receiving regular orders from people outside your immediate circle. Your income may become predictable. Customers may begin recommending you. You may also notice that you need better systems because you can no longer handle everything casually.

That is when it may be time to register the business, separate personal and business finances, improve your branding and create proper processes.

You do not have to do everything at once. Start with the areas that will make the biggest difference.

Build Before You Brag

Social media has made entrepreneurship look glamorous. We see people announcing new brands, sharing packaging videos and describing themselves as CEOs.

However, behind every sustainable business is work that rarely makes it to social media.

There are invoices to track. Customers to follow up with. Products to source. Complaints to resolve. Expenses to control. Mistakes to correct. Taxes and other obligations to consider.

That reality may not look glamorous, but it matters.

Instead of rushing to call yourself a CEO, focus on becoming a better business owner.

Learn how your money moves. Understand your customers. Improve your product. Keep your promises. Build systems. Then grow from there.

The Goal Is Sustainability

A side hustle can be the beginning of something much bigger. Many successful businesses started with one person selling a product, offering a service or solving a problem after work.

The important thing is to understand where you are.

If you have a small hustle, own it. There is no shame in saying, “I have a side hustle.” It is honest, and it gives you room to learn.

If you want to turn that hustle into a business, then build it intentionally.

Ultimately, entrepreneurship is not about what you call yourself. It is about the value you create, the problems you solve and whether you can build something that works consistently.

So, stop calling every side hustle a business.

Some are hustles. Some are businesses. And some are promising ideas that are still becoming businesses.

Knowing the difference is not about putting anyone down. Instead, it is about understanding what it takes to move from simply making money to building something that can last.
