The Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a hairstylist, whose decomposing body was discovered inside her apartment in Osogbo on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Kemisola,body was found decomposing in a room located around the Jaleyemi area of Osogbo.Police operatives have evacuated her remains.
A co-tenant, who spoke on anonymity told Punch that the discovery was made after he noticed the deceased’s door partly open early Thursday morning.
According to him, Kemisola had not been seen around the house for some days, prompting concern.

“This morning, I noticed that her apartment door was slightly open. I greeted her, but there was no response,” he said.
“That made me check on her, and I was shocked to find her decomposing body lying on the bed. I don’t even know her full name. We only exchanged greetings occasionally as neighbours”he added
Another resident, identified as Jide, said he last saw Kemisola on Monday and initially thought the foul odour coming from her room was caused by a dead rat.
He said suspicion grew when the smell persisted until neighbours eventually discovered her corpse.

A knife,mobile phone and an empty bottle containing an unidentified substance was found in the room.
A man who identified himself as the deceased’s elder brother said he last saw Kemisola on Monday after she returned from a trip to Igbajo.
“When I saw her on Monday, she told me she would come back to see me, but I didn’t hear from her again until her body was discovered today. She was a hairstylist,” he said.
Another neighbour, Damilola, described the deceased as “a lovely person,” noting that she had moved out of the area about three months ago due to poor electricity supply and had been staying with her maternal uncle.

“She only came around occasionally. When she returned on Monday, she greeted me and went inside. I was shocked to hear of her death this morning,” Damilola said
The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident,noting that the matter had been reported to the police.
“The incident was reported today. The remains have been evacuated by the police and an autopsy will be conducted. There was no visible mark of violence on the deceased,” Ojelabi said.
He added that investigations had commenced to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death

In the footage,the woman was seen straddling the teenager while holding a knife above her after reportedly beating her near the entrance of a residential compound.
Providing an update on the incident in a statement shared on X on Thursday, the LSDVA disclosed that the incident came to light following a viral video.
The agency stated that, the report prompted an immediate response in line with the state’s protection protocol.

It noted that the victim was subsequently rescued by the Child Protection Unit of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development and placed in a shelter where she is receiving care and other support services.
It noted that the suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps and taken to the Ipaja Police Station.
“The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency was alerted to a distressing viral video depicting the alleged assault of a 15-year-old girl by her biological mother in the Ipaja area of Lagos State on Wednesday, 29th April 2026. The Agency immediately activated the State’s response protocol upon receipt of the report” the statement reads
“The survivor was swiftly rescued by the Child Protection Unit of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development and has been placed in a shelter, where she is currently receiving appropriate care and support services” the statement added

LSDVA noted that the case was later transferred to the Family Support Unit of the Ipaja Division of the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation, after which the matter was charged to Court 23 of the Samuel Ilori Magistrate Court in Ogba on Thursday.
It further noted that the defendant had been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The agency also commended residents who reported the incident, emphasizing their actions as vital to ensuring the safety of the victim and the progress of the case.
“Following diligent investigation, the case was charged to court on Thursday, 30th April 2026, and heard at Court 23, Samuel Ilori Magistrate Court, Ogba, Lagos, even as the defendant has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the Director of Public Prosecutions’ advice” the statement added
The agency reiterated the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance stance on all forms of child abuse.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, announced the arrest of a woman identified as Tracy Wilson for allegedly sexually assaulting her three-year-old daughter.
Edafe stated that the arrest followed a report by the father of the victim, who claimed he came across a video of the suspect engaging in alleged lesbian practices with the victim.
