A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, has ordered the police to investigate Senator Francis Fadahunsi over alleged comments calling for the killing of members of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election.
The Presiding Magistrate II, Farida Ibrahim, directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, Abuja, to investigate the criminal complaint and submit a report to the court within two weeks.
The directive was contained in a letter dated August 13, 2026, signed by the Registrar of the Magistrate’s Court, Abdulraham Yusuf.
The letter, titled “Direct Criminal Complaint Between Pelumi Olajengbesi and Senator Francis Fadahunsi,” was issued pursuant to Section 89(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
It stated, “I am directed by the presiding Magistrate II, His Worship Hon. Farida Ibrahim, sitting at Magistrate Court Wuse Zone 6, F.C.T Abuja to write to your office to investigate the above-mentioned case and report back within two weeks.”
The court attached a copy of the criminal complaint to the letter and directed the police to take “necessary action.”

Osun Govt Accuses Fadahunsi Of Inciting Violence
Olajengbesi accused the senator of making statements capable of encouraging violence against members and supporters of the Accord Party ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The police investigation ordered by the court is coming amid heightened political tensions in Osun State as political parties intensify campaigns and mobilisation ahead of the governorship poll.
Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, has come under criticism following the alleged remarks contained in the video.
The development also coincided with a separate legal threat issued by Olajengbesi against the senator over allegations made during television interviews.
On Wednesday, Olajengbesi threatened to institute a N10bn defamation and injurious falsehood suit against Fadahunsi, demanding the retraction of statements allegedly made during interviews on Viable TV on July 2 and Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 11.
Aide Demands Retraction Of Statement
In a letter dated August 12, 2026, Olajengbesi’s lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, demanded the immediate retraction of the alleged statements.
According to the lawyer, Fadahunsi accused Olajengbesi of sponsoring thugs and members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups.
The lawyer stated that during one of the interviews, the senator allegedly attacked the identity and reputation of his client by saying that Olajengbesi was “not even from the same Ijebu-Jesha” and was “from somewhere in Ogun State.”
The lawyer further alleged that Fadahunsi accused Olajengbesi of “using thugs, Eiye and Aye.”
He also alleged that during the August 11 appearance on Politics Today, Fadahunsi said, “Rogba is an Eiye man sponsored by Barr. Olajengbesi terrorising the whole … my own territory up and down through all these Eiye and Aye.”
Olajengbesi denied the allegations, describing them as false, defamatory and injurious to his reputation.
“The allegation of sponsoring cultists and persons engaged in acts of terror is particularly serious, as it imputes criminality and conduct wholly incompatible with our Client’s standing as a legal practitioner, public figure and candidate for elective office,” the lawyer stated.
He demanded that Fadahunsi retract the alleged defamatory statements through the same media platforms where they were made and publish what his lawyer described as an “unequivocal and unreserved public apology.”
Osun State Govt Drags IG To Court
The controversy has also assumed another legal dimension, with the Osun State Government dragging the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in the state before the High Court.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Osun State, Oluwole Jimi-Bada, SAN, filed the suit, marked HOS/M.157/26, at the High Court of Justice, Osogbo Judicial Division, on August 12, 2026.
In the court documents, Fadahunsi was joined as a person affected or interested in the matter.
The application followed the circulation of the video in which the senator was allegedly heard making comments concerning members of the Accord Party.
According to the state government, the alleged comments included a call on members of the All Progressives Congress to “kill Accord Party members anywhere they see them.”
The government further alleged that Fadahunsi called for the killing of the wives and children of Accord members.
The application stated, “The said senator is further alleged to have stated that Accord members have wives and children and that APC members should kill them all, thereby extending the incitement to violence against innocent family members and constituting a direct threat to life and family security.”
The state government also alleged that Fadahunsi called for Accord members to be chased from hotels and allegedly described them as “not normal human beings” because of their yellow caps.
The government urged the court to compel the police to obtain, secure, preserve and forensically examine the “complete and unedited version” of the video.
It also wants investigators to establish the circumstances surrounding the creation and circulation of the video, including the location, date, audience, sponsors, publishers and other persons connected with the alleged statements.
The state government argued that the alleged remarks, if authenticated, could have serious implications for public safety and the conduct of the election.
“The contents of the said publication, if authenticated through proper investigation, constitute matters of the gravest public security concern,” the government stated.
It added that the alleged comments were “inherently capable of creating widespread fear, encouraging political violence, threatening lives, endangering families” and potentially leading to a breakdown of law and order.
The Attorney-General also asked the court to compel the police to take preventive security measures to protect Accord Party members, supporters, candidates, agents, voters and other residents who could allegedly be endangered by the statements.
The state further urged the police, where investigations establish that an offence had been committed, to exercise their lawful powers, including inviting suspects for questioning, interrogation and arrest where legally justified.
It specifically asked the police to commence or recommend appropriate criminal proceedings against any person found culpable “without regard to political status, public office, or political affiliation.”
The latest court directive adds to growing scrutiny of political statements ahead of the Osun governorship election.
With the election scheduled for Saturday, the allegations have raised concerns among political actors over the potential impact of inflammatory rhetoric on the safety of voters, candidates, party agents and supporters.
The court-ordered investigation will now determine the authenticity and context of the disputed video and whether the alleged statements constitute any criminal offence.
